Hi all - I love film (and good TV series) so thought I'd try to start a thread for other likeminded cinephiles who enjoy discussing and debating films and series, especially fun during award season.
I'll start off by saying that I was very disappointed by Killers of the Flower Moon. IMHO Scorsese hasn't made a good film in years and has a recent penchant of overly long, bloated films where he allows his big name actors to chew up the scenery. In this case De Niro and Di Capprio having scowl/mug-offs in every scene they were in together. Just bad film making all around.
Let me know your thoughts on what you've seen recently.

I could talk all day about Breaking Bad. It was the best series I've ever seen.

Yes, it's on my top 3 all time fav series list, along with Firefly and True Detective Season 1. I'll have to check those other two out. Are they on Netflix or Hulu? True Detective is on HBO (Max). Each season is a stand-alone: new characters, actors, locations, plot. Season 1 stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and they are both incredible, arguably the best pairing of two detectives in cinematic/TV history. Unfort season 2 is awful (not even worth watching) and season 3 is "meh". Season 4 stars Jodie Foster and it's currently airing, it's not as good as S1 but better than the other two. Firefly is on Hulu. It came out in 2002 on Fox and it didn't get seen by many folks and got canceled mid-season 1. It's a Sci-fi/western mashup with great comedy but also a lot of heart. Made by Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vamp Slayer and director of the Star Trek reboots/some of the Marvel/Avenger movies). Hope you like em!

Currently watching Griselda, starring Sophia Vergara, on Netflix. It's really good. She doing a surprisingly great job of acting. I believe it got really good reviews.
True story about a Columbian woman who rose the ranks in the drug market/cartel and became what people called her "The Godmother."

I'm sensing a theme in what you like to watch I was thinking that was probably becoming evident as I typed it. Lol. Yes, but I like all genres of film. I like biographys, comedy, just about anything good.

Alternate reality based on the butterfly effect of what would have happened to NASA and space exploration if the Russians had made it to the moon first in '69. It's especially cool for me because I was born in '69 so the series takes place over my childhood and lifetime.

I'm interested in watching that.
