How did the new on-campus park fare during the recent San Diego flooding? I can't seem to find flood video affecting the new Mission Valley Campus...

I haven't heard, but I know the Monster Truck series carries on there this weekend. Perhaps some of our East County* posters will give us a status update later. * Yes, I'm stereotyping

Mission Valley wasn't as affected as south of 94 was. Chollas Creek watershed was a flooded mess. I do remember the last time San Diego River overflowed into the old Stadium right before the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl. (SDSU vs Navy) That level of flooding would likely have flooded most of the new park - but what I don't know is how many kinds of flood control were baked into the new riverside park. Seems like they'd have done the necessary engineering to keep it from washing away the first time there was a good rainstorm.

There has been a lot of work to insure improved drainage and water flow in the area. The park area itself might be flooded, but I believe that's part of the overflow plan to keep the water below grade for the building improvements.
Here is a link to an early study:

How did the new on-campus park fare during the recent San Diego flooding? I can't seem to find flood video affecting the new Mission Valley Campus... Maybe just maybe this was the first test for the NEW River Park and it went well?, would have been nice or still could be with a follow up on the current condition of the park and how it did during record rainfall. This was a major expense for the University and is part of a much bigger project for the expansion of the University in and around the Mission Valley area so yes this would be nice showing and documenting how the area handled the large storm. Go Aztecs!

Go Aztecs! Even if there were some flooding at the site, remember that it's likely that not all of the land contouring and drainage have been completed yet.

So I walked the park at Snapdragon yesterday. Seems it came through in good shape. No major washout, erosion, or flooding. Parking lot drained as it was supposed to. Desilting basin was 95% dry. Only spots that seem to have any drainage problems, was the southest corner under bridge at easterly entrance. Obvious a flat/low spot that seemed to not drain. Also some spots on easterly side along the 15. Some standing water in low/flat area where it crosses path. Will be habitual, especially in heavy downpours. Overall came through in great shape, everything greener and growing fast. Hope it dried out enough, before this next storm🤞
