Haven't had a chance to see the Aztec women play softball yet this year....well here it is. Ranked #3 in the bracket, they take on #2 Liberty University in the first round of the Los Angeles Regional. Game time is 8:00 p.m. PT; and the game is on ESPNU.

UCLA lost 3-2 vs Grand Canyon in the early game. SDSU vs GCU in the winners bracket.

Nice win by the SDSU Women Softball team on ESPN2. Way to go out there and represent the school on prime time tv. Stacey Nuveman Deniz is a legit coach. 75-31 record in her first two year as HC. #NCAA Tournament

That was a great, dominant game by the Aztecs. It's kinda set up like last year in the NCAA's. We won our first two games then had to face a ranked ASU on their home field, and unfortunately they beat us twice. Hope we can get past UCLA this year. Since the Padres are depressing to watch right now, I watched every pitch of the softball game, and now wish baseball games were only 7 innings.  I'll be at TG Stadium this morning for the Aztecs' last home baseball game of the season. (and my first) |

I'll be rooting hard for Liberty today. Would love to see UCLA go 0-2 and out first.

We got a lot of help from Liberty's D yesterday setting the table and providing extra outs. I don't think we can count on those breaks against the 'lopes today or the Bruins ultimately. Still, where the rubber meets the road, SDSU's 2-out O was clutch!
Side note... Great to see Dot Richardson heading up a Liberty squad (that seemed overmatched). I had completely forgotten about her after the '96 Olympics, but recalled the story of her heading right back to med school after she collected her gold. That is one very accomplished person!
Those looking for today's game... It looks like ESPN+ has today's coverage (as they did last night) and is only like 10 bucks a month. I use it all the time to watch the occasional MLB game as I refuse to pay during the summer the ransom rates that regular cable asks -- then cast right onto my TV. It (along with SDSU softball/baseball ticket prices) are one of the few reasonable prices to be found in sports entertainment anymore.

Liberty is the #2 Seed so it's not impossible for them to take down UCLA.
