Dutcher said on the radio the other day how much the coaching staff likes Demarshay. I trust their opinion. I don't think it was just an off the cuff remark. And, I'm saying that Miles Heide could really push for some PT as true freshman. He's not a guy that needs to redshirt in terms of his physical stature. Yes, he will have lots to learn when he gets on campus, but I really like his athleticism and upside. He comes from a basketball family. No, Heide needs to put on some muscle and learn our defense. He will get pushed around in the paint as a freshman... Per this article from May 10th, 2023, he's now at 6'9" and 230 lbs. He's not getting pushed around too much. He's only 17 but both his parents played the Center position in college so he's been getting schooled by them for a whole lot of years already. Yes Dutcher would love a big rim-protecting grad transfer but I really believe him when he sounds ok with Heide and DJ. news.scorebooklive.com/recruiting/2023/05/10/a-closer-look-at-miles-heide-dan-dickaus-starting-5

"He has much upside as I have seen from a big from Washington in the past 10 - 15 years.” That's a pretty strong statement. Hopefully he's right! I've read that Dutcher had targeted him for a long, long time while fending off others who were after him. So he was thrilled when he signed to come here. I think we'll be lucky to get more than 2 years out of him before he enters the draft.

Different level of ball from HS to D1 for sure. But, Miles Heide is not Cade Alger physically. He's got some pretty thick muscular legs. Upper body can benefit, for sure, from a D1 weight/strength program. We'll see.

Plus since Max is 17 years old, some say he can grow another 2-3 inches, in addition to adding strength. Dan Dickau named Max the Washington HS Player of the Year. Far from the same player. {Oops, looks like Decomm and I read the same article.}

Despite what a couple people have said here, the coaching staff has been hyping Johnson & even Heide all year at various events, and Acker has said they expected it to be difficult to land a big via the portal due to the fact we already have Ledee, Johnson & Heide on the roster. Guys in the portal know who they'd compete with for minutes, and our coaches aren't going to mislead them.

As Acker said, recruits know this. It's a factor.

“Miles has developed into a 6’9 230 pound athlete that can board, run the floor, alter shots, with an ever-improving skill set. He has a rare combination of size and athleticism. He plays well above the rim on both ends. His ability to get up and down and rebound will translate very early in his college career.”
“Miles can go over either shoulder on the block, turn and face, or attack off the dribble. In the last year, his perimeter shot took a step forward, which he shot over 40% this year from three."
"Miles is 17 years old and far from a finished product. San Diego State saw him as the player he is today and the player he will become. He has much upside as I have seen from a big from Washington in the past 10 - 15 years.”

In your previous post you repeatedly referred to Miles as "Max". I am somewhat of an Aztec BB junkie, and never in a million years would I have gotten the Max Montana reference. But, thanks for bringing me back to the glory years of Aztec BB with Max Montana!

He would be a good pick up for a program like the one he left, Seattle.

How does Jordan Brown still have eligibility? He just showed up on the "on3" website having just entered the Transfer Portal after pulling out of the nba draft. www.on3.com/transfer-portal/wire/basketball/2023/Would he be a good add to Aztec program?

He's been in college 5 years, but 1 was a RS and 1 of those was 2021 the Covid free year. Must have got a waiver for 2020 (year he didnt' play). He's long (6'11) and a good rebounder but he's not known as a shot blocker. Just a little higher than Ledee, but short of AG (& obviously well short of Nate). But that could be the type of D they play? I'd take him, but he played over 30 minutes a game last year so I'd think he'd go somewhere he could do the same. That's not here.

(LSU, Kentucky, Alabama, Mizzu) There's no way he follows the Muss Buss to Arkan$a$, "Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me." After being tricked once, he should learn from his mistakes and avoid being tricked in the same way again.

The '19-20 year just cost players post-season time, which impacted fewer players overall. I agree with you about playing here (& keeping Heide as a RS candidate), but it's a big fall from 30+ minutes to 20 for your last year of college. He'd basically be reverting to his RS Soph year at Arizona.
