Wonder if he's willing to come off the bench That’s not a very good way to recruit a guy. You tell him that it’s a wide open contest and the best five are going to start.

Not sure TV announcers and some fans could handle a team with both DJ Davis & BJ Davis on the same squad, the same floor in the same thread.

Think Lamont would be a good judge if he fits the mold of an Aztec player
Also think fans and announcers could handle calling a player DJ , AJ and even KJ ( for Keshad ) as many did with AG

He'd be coming to a team that returns it's starting backcourt on a Final 4 team plus adds BJ Davis. He'd be coming here knowing it'd be in the Seiko role. Personally, don't see the fit. Not a good defender. Plus, don't see him wanting the Seiko role. I could see him going to ASU.

Exactly, Calcaterra went from USD to UCONN with the understanding that he had no shot at starting, but knew he could contribute to a championship team. You can absolutely recruit kids who know their role.

What are you hearing on BJ… I have heard that he very likely will get 15 to 20 minutes… similar to Seiko… assuming he can defend

What are you hearing on BJ… I have heard that he very likely will get 15 to 20 minutes… similar to Seiko… assuming he can defend I've only heard they really like him. I don't think we'll know minutes until we see how he's able to produce against this level of comp in practice plus, as you mention, how quickly he can pick up the defense. Butler was a pretty good defender, but even he struggled some as a FR (& played closer to 10-12 minutes not 15+). We return our starting backcourt, and Seiko was an experienced defensive wiz even if he didn't have quite the complete skillset Davis brings. I do believe they're seeking a gunner via the portal, which leads me to believe Davis may not get 20 minutes. The last true FR to play 15+ minutes was Nate in 2019, on a team lacking height (that didn't make post-season). Before him, Matt back in 2018, who basically pushed Jeremy to the bench (Jalen was a RS FR that year who played big minutes). It's pretty rare, but maybe Davis is rare? No FR played 15+ in Dutch's last 4 years. I just think with Trammell & Butler, assuming both return, the minutes might be scarce, especially if they land an experienced shooter. Guess it'll depend upon whether Dutch decides to "stay old" or rolls the dice & includes 3 (or 4) of the unproven FR/SO in the 9-man roto? The last time he did that, though, was 2019 w/ no post season. My gut says the following: Starters: Trammell, Butler, Parrish, Transfer 4/5 if no KJ, Ledee Roto: Transfer G/W (unless it's a Bradley alpha who pushes Parrish to the bench), Transfer fly swatter (if not starter, or Shay, if they believe in him), Seiko-replacement, Saunders, with 1 from Byrd/Davis being the 10th man Deep: Byrd/Davis, Shay & Heide That's 13, which I don't think happens unless Heide RS's. Maybe we only add 3 transfers - only 1 big, 1 Bradley clone, 1 shooter) or maybe they do believe enough in Davis that'll he'll replace Seiko? Hard to predict that though. Anyway, we'll be deep & talented yet again, and should have 4+ seniors. However it shapes out, whether 2 transfers & youth or 3 transfers, it'll be a top 25 team with some nice competition for PT yet again.
