Why is this board ignoring the existence of ucla? Ucla is a top 5 team with a very good coach. They are going nowhere anytime soon. I’d say with oregon’s drop off we’d be third but there is much more recruiting upside to change that What?

Isn't UCLA headed to the B1G, with USC?

Yep… only 2 per year instead of 5…. but still will have elevation games The 2 higher elevation games really screw things up for basketball in planning and scheduling games just prior and or after in regards to recovery, football is bad just not as bad as basketball. The others around 5000 feet just make for a less then optimal performance gameday (kinda shity day, but doable) Kawhi used to have elevation sickness even in Salt Lake/Provo at 4,500. Well documented when he was here, used to throw up in trash cans off to the side of the bench during games, and there was some crazy info on his splits vs. the Jazz first few years in the league. Haven’t seen anything since, but point being - even 4-5k elevation affects different players in different ways, sometimes drastically and sometimes at lower elevations than when it hits others.

I’d say with oregon’s drop off we’d be third but there is much more recruiting upside to change that Cause they (and USC) are leaving for the Big 10 after this next season. That’s the whole reason why we are in discussion for PAC expansion.

I’d say with oregon’s drop off we’d be third but there is much more recruiting upside to change that UCLA will not be in the PAC11+....that's why we are not speaking of them. The thread was how would SDSU Basketball do in the PAC.

You also need to add in there would not be any road trip issues to worry about, that is no elevation games to plan for or recover from. Still will have typical road trip issues to deal with but most of the PAC are easy in and out games not to far from airports (SMU ?) SMU is about 4 miles east of Love Field on Mockingbird Ln. Southwest flies in/out of Love Field and not DFW, so this may be better for fans.

A nice option for Orange Co Aztecs is flying JSX into Love from John Wayne. It's a public airline that has 30 seats all first class. They have their own terminal so no TSA and check in is 20 minutes before flight. Dogs don't need to be in a carriers. If you haven't flown them you should it's an enjoyable experience. The only problem they offer limited destinations.

I feel like the AZTECS would not have the BEST winning percentage in Basketball and Football over a pretty significant period of recent history if we were in the PAC12....BUT I mean, look at UTAH...they had success in the MWC prior to their jump to the PAC12, and now look really good in Football and still decent in Basketball...so Why not the Aztecs???

I used to feel pretty sick myself after most BYU games. But I couldn't blame it on the altitude, just the score.

DREAM: PAC 12 extends invitation to SDSU right after SDSU wins the sweet16 game.

didn't we beat GONZAGA at GONZAGA, KANSAS at KANSAS.....I mean, we are not out of the conversation with any elite basketball schools.....so I think DUTCH will do ok in any league.

Are you asking about field hockey? Az is the only basketball team that can claim scoreboard over SDSU. I admit would would have trouble with Alcindor's '68 UCLA team. Other than that we fear noone in the PAC

Other than that we fear noone in the PAC Great post. On top of our success against the PAC in recent years in basketball, we just beat the best team in the SEC.
Once we have a few years to catch up in recruiting to a power conference we will win more than our share against the rest of the PAC.

The phone for SDSU should be busy with top recruits wanting to play for SDSU. Winning conference championships and a deep NCAA tournament run has that effect. With that comes, SDSU competing for a Pac-12 men's basketball championship in their first season in the new conference.

If we were in the pac we would upgrade to a 5 star recruit every 5 years and upgrade two of our 3s for two 4s.

With that comes, SDSU competing for a Pac-12 men's basketball championship in their first season in the new conference. It seems that the basketball players we've been getting through the portal have not been transferring because they weren't getting playing time. They're coming to SDSU because they wont to be in a winning program, a NCAA Tournament program.
For the most part they've been rewarded for that and we've been rewarded for that.
