Out for the season.
Injured while celebrating advancing from pool play in the WBC.

Just a real disaster for Diaz as well as the Mets. I guess injuries can happen during a regular preseason game, but this particular injury was certainly preventable. Busting your knee in a post-game celebration? Just horrible. I wonder how supportive owners and MLB will be for these WBC games in the future given that these things can happen. I guess we'll find out come 2026. Players will certainly do whatever they want, but contracts that are yet to be written could include language to safeguard the teams' investments.

Peavy suffered a broken rib in 2005, while celebrating the Padres clinching the NL West, essentially knocking himself out of the playoffs that season. It happens. Unfortunately. There are already procedures in place that protect MLB teams should one of their players get injured in the WBC. There are some players (Clayton Kershaw, for one) that wanted to play in the WBC but couldn't, as they couldn't get additional insurance (as in his case, additional insurance was required, but Kershaw was deemed uninsurable)

The Mets seem to be the new Padres. Maybe the worm is finally turning for cursed SD sports!
