My wife and I will be attending the MW tournament this year for the first time. We have lodging but no tickets. We'd like to purchase tickets for SDSU's first game ahead of time and then buy them day by day. We are not basketball ticket holders. Could any of you offer advice? We don't need premier tickets. Since I assume everything will be electronic, how easy will it be to pick up tickets on a day-to-day basis? Any advice would be appreciated.

There are tons of scalpers outside the Thomas and Mack. Good deals to be had but, I never use them as they are a sketchy lot and I don't trust them. I've been using stubhub for the last 7 or 8 years. Timing is everything. Get tickets early or last minute for best deals. Be on the lookout for the Aztecarita crew in the VIP parking lot. A party you do not want to miss.

If you don’t mind sitting in the Fresno State section, there are currently first row (Row A) tickets for each session on Stubhub for less than $50 each. Amazing deal I’d take advantage of if I was going this year.
You can also buy GA (200-level) from Ticketmaster/T&M direct for about the same price.
I don’t recommend leaning on scalpers. Easy to purchase ahead of time and the savings isn’t *that* much going other routes, unless you’re on an extreme budget.
Have fun! It’s a great time every year.

Just buy the expensive tickets from the New Mexico fans after they lost the first game. They were all notorious for buying the all inclusive package with food and everything. Then like clock work, they lost the first game and dump the remaining games. Have sat first row and all the food I can eat for pennies on the dollar. Heck, have sat with some bid dogs in the VIP area and it was just lil ole me and my fam.
That was always our plan until others started doing the same thing. Drove the prices up.

If you can handle the slight stress of waiting until a few hours before tipoff, you can get them pretty easily at the T&M. Avoid the tweaker/scalpers in the parking lot and at the front steps at the T&M there's usually fans trying to sell off their tickets and are generally pretty cool.

Has it been finalized that our first game is Thursday 3/9 at noon?

Has it been finalized that our first game is Thursday 3/9 at noon? I don’t believe so but it would be highly unlikely for us not to. If we lose to Boise and Wyoming at home and Boise beats Utah St on the road I think they would have the 1 seed cause we lost to Wyoming. But we will be about a 20 point favorite over Wyoming and Boise is an underdog against Utah St so the odds are greatly in our favor.

Has it been finalized that our first game is Thursday 3/9 at noon? No, but if SDSU wins either of their final games, yes, they’ll play at noon on Thursday. If they lose both, they could tie with Boise or Nevada. They’d have split the season series with both of these schools, so you’d move down the list to compare record with each subsequent seed until one team did better than the either. Nevada split with USU, who SDSU swept, so SDSU>Nevada. Boise split with SJSU, and SDSU beat SJSU in their only meeting. Both Boise and SDSU split with UNM. SDSU swept UNLV and Boise split with them. All to say, I’d be very comfortable buying tickets to the noon game on Thursday. It might that SDSU clinched that game already—I’m doing a lot of this from memory regarding the standings/results, apologies if I missed something.

If you don't have a specific reason for buying Thursday's tix beforehand, just show up to the T&M early Thursday, buy from their box office (there's always good seats available) and then come join our Aztecarita tailgate in the parking lot.

Depends on how sneaky you are, or whether a particular usher is cool with a $20 handshake. To answer more directly, no, they’ve been twatty about it in the recent past.

Having been to many games there inside the Thomas @ Mack, Row A is not the front row. The bottom rows start DD to maybe JJ. The bottom 3 rows (AA,BB,CC) are removed for the wall placed around the court. Row A would be behind the hand railing. Hopefully, the sections behind the basket will return to the 2020 seating plan.

Some years they've been totally lax with in & outs, very little monitoring of the section entrances, etc., while other years the exact opposite. But I'd err on the side of caution and assume "twatty" as cc mentioned.
