Ted has got to be getting pretty old - how about we provide a final destination for the “San Diego State Chicken”?

If we can’t have Disgruntled Monty, I would definitely take the Chicken.

The Chicken is the only good alternative so far. Now someone talk Ted into letting the Aztecs use it.

Monty is not coming back. If there is going to be a new mascot, it will not be Monty or any other live representation of a human being. The simple choice is no mascot or a cartoon mascot.
I don't know how nothing is the better choice. Hell, even Staford fans enjoy the cartoon tree mascot.

A Teletubby mascot would fit in with the state of affairs. i'm sure the Student Council, faculty and administration would not object. Just have to work out the licensing agreement. Either Laa-Laa or Tinky Winky would suffice. Bring back Homecoming King while you are at it

I would welcome the fuzzy puma IF, and only if, it was presented as an Aztec sacrifice: Head removed and heart in hand. No really, holding its heart in the paw connected only to the chest with a stretched, taut aorta and left subclavian artery--still pumping.

I'm in favor of a Jaguar as long as it doesn't look like a mothball eaten old stuffed toy that's been sitting in a closet for 20 years like the zoob mascot.

I was there when we beat #13 Florida St. University in 1977, 41-16. We were near a sell out, over 50K fans. Monty came out and thew a flaming spear in front of Coach Bowden of FSU. The atmosphere was electric. Bowden sent a note to Coach Gilbert afterwards and congratulated him on his team and fans.
"Head coach Claude Gilbert's Aztecs earned a No. 16 national ranking and beat San Jose State the following week to complete a 10-1 season. The landmark victory was considered a sign of things to come as Gilbert elevated a program that was less than a decade removed from small-school status. "We were having a heck of a year, but they wore us out," Bowden said. "They beat the heck out of us and looked as good as anybody. When we got home, I wrote their coach a note and congratulated him on a such a great job. "I also remember they had a loud crowd that night. They had a big Samoan (representing the Aztec Warrior mascot) with a flaming spear on the field. He would go up in the stands to get the fans riled up."
^^^ I want that mascot back. I have a bit of Irish in me and have Irish friends. None are offended by their "Fighting Irishman" mascot and when you find any who have actual Aztec identity they typically don't have an issue with our warrior mascot. In fact, most appreciate it.

Change the mascot to SDSU Jaguars and have a live Jaguar, like how UGA has a live bulldog Yeah, and set it loose on Musselman next time we play him...

Completely agree. No one … NO ONE that matters was calling to get rid of Monty other than maybe some lame part time gender studies professor and 4 genex-ers under his spell. Did De La Traitor poll the student body? Nope. Did she poll the alumni base? Nope The big donors? Nope. Power tripping, outside, interloper thinking she was solving a non-existent problem. Screw her … She can’t be gone soon enough.
