but should it be? What business does the city council have getting involved in this at any level? Why would these city officials put our summer tourist business at risk when they should be worried about crime and the tax burden that illegals cause?

California has a law on the books that is similar to what AZ has just passed. It is moot after a court ruliong, but we here in California tried to do the same thing as AZ is doing and is now Federal law.
