Won’t ever forget the sound of those pop fouls hitting the roof at Westgate Park. Great place to watch Padres games as a kid.

Won’t ever forget the sound of those pop fouls hitting the roof at Westgate Park. Great place to watch Padres games as a kid. Thanks for the reminder Junior, those were the days! Some games I sat at a table near the concession behind the first base line hoping for a foul ball, but there was a very low, maybe six inch high fence that prevented most of them from leaving the roof. Used to go to the Plaza to catch the buses that went straight to Westgate Park. Will always remember the game when actress Mamie Van Doren came to the game to support Bo Belinsky, her boyfriend at the time and she mostly just paraded around with a small pack of drooling guys following her.

Won’t ever forget the sound of those pop fouls hitting the roof at Westgate Park. Great place to watch Padres games as a kid. The grass berm from foul pole to foul pole was just such a great idea. Every time I go to Spring Training/Arizona Fall League with all the parks that have a grass bank to sit on--I think of Westgate Park.
