Sounds like a solid pick up. Be interesting how his senior year goes. Think he was a 3 star with a lot of offers.

Many of us might be surprised to hear that he really likes Coach Heck and his thoughts
Something to remember these guys are Verbal Commits until the early signing time rolls around in December

Sounds like a solid pick up. Be interesting how his senior year goes. Think he was a 3 star with a lot of offers. He's got a tough schedule of top LA/OC private schools playing for the Rutgers of LA private schools. Meaning his stats might not be as eye-catching as other QBs because of competition and his team.

3-star 6'4" 200 lb out of Chaminade HS in the West Valley. Offers: Arizona State, Oregon, Florida State, BYU, Kansas, Nevada, Pitt, Toldeo and San Jose St.
I am hoping that he brings what we need to the Mesa, great size, & strong HS career.
SDUT: Today Johnson will join a quarterback room that includes three other scholarship quarterbacks returning in 2023 — senior Jalen Mayden, who will be taking advantage of his “COVID year” of eligibility, and Liu Aumavae and Kyle Crum, who both will be redshirt freshmen.
Notable: Dual-threat QB passed for 1,679 yards and 15 touchdown this season while rushing for 803 yards and 13 TDs. Passed for four TDs and rushed for another in a 65-34 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High, where he played for three years before transferring to Chaminade.

Even though he may have Verballed to the former OC - would guess that Coaches Horton and Lindley reached out to him shortly after
in addition would think he would have enjoyed watching the improvement the Aztec offense made after the former OC left - so think he was impressed and pleased to be joining SDSU

Even though he may have Verballed to the former OC - would guess that Coaches Horton and Lindley reached out to him shortly after in addition would think he would have enjoyed watching the improvement the Aztec offense made after the former OC left - so think he was impressed and pleased to be joining SDSU Lindley convinced him: SDSU’s QB stayed true to his commitment Javance Tupouata-Johnson committed to the Aztecs in June when Jeff Hecklinski was still the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Most programs take one signal caller a year, so Tupouata-Johnson’s decision set SDSU up for the class of 2023. When head coach Brady Hoke relieved Hecklinski of his duties, a valid question emerged whether Tupouata-Johnson would want to play for the new coaches on staff. His quiet approach to the recruiting process left some guessing if his future was still at SDSU. When he tweeted out a late offer from Tulane, it raised even more questions. Following the UNLV game in November, Ryan Lindley showed Tupouata-Johnson around Snapdragon, helping to solidify his commitment to the Aztecs. Wednesday, the Chaminade High School QB left no doubt and signed his letter of intent. Keeping him in the fold was a win for the staff. Switching coordinators midseason invigorated the offense, but if it cost them Tupouata-Johnson, it could be argued the price was too high. He held offers from Oregon, Florida State, and Pittsburgh, among others. More schools jumped into the mix except he cut his recruitment short in June. Tupouata-Johnson is the crown jewel of the 2023 class and among the highest-rated QB recruits in program history.

As you have mentioned and it was in another media article stating the same thing - Lindley help seal the recruit's deal
While it is true the recruits form a communication link with the lead coach . Would hope that the QB recruit - has been able to see the difference of the play by the QB since O Heck Man has been let go . Actions on the field should say even more then the words of a coach .

Hoke stated there was not going to be any transfer portal QB coming in, which probably helped stabilize the recruiting of JTJ.
