OK, question for the Republicans on the board...
How do you feel about this in the wake of January 6th and the attempt to overturn a valid election, followed by an attempted insurrection/coup?
That was the breaking point for me. I re-registered as an Independent after that, but in the wake of these laws being put in place where a valid election can literally be overturned at the whim of Republicans in various State offices, can you really feel good about supporting the Republican Party? They're resorting to literal fascist tactics now.
At what point do you say, "Enough is enough, I can't support this stuff anymore?"

Eric, you are asking a question that doesn't have an answer....they are all in! Ethics , laws, common decency do not matter anymore. I know it's tough to swallow, but this is the case. Remember the "Moral Majority"? It was a joke then, and its an even bigger joke now. How the fundamentalist Christians can support the evil shyster and con man who has no moral core, is beyond anything I've ever seen in America. Regarding abortion, I would bet the pink slip to my car that trump has paid for more than one.

Eric, you are asking a question that doesn't have an answer....they are all in! Ethics , laws, common decency do not matter anymore. I want to think that you're wrong, at least that there is a significant (at least 15%) portion of the Republican voter base that actually cares about ethics and democracy and doing the right thing. I mean, I was a registered Republican for 35 years, and voted Republican in every election except two (Presidential elections, I voted Libertarian to give a 3rd party a bigger percentage) - and I said, "Enough is enough," and re-registered as an Independent (and am voting for the Democrat in my district as Ken Calvert voted to overturn the election and give those who engaged in an attempted Coup a pass, so I want him gone). If I have a sense of ethics and decency, there have to be other Republicans who feel the same way. Having said that, I posted that Instagram post elsewhere and someone said, "Sounds good to me," totally NOT caring about the loss of democracy and heading into fascist authoritarianism. That was disapppointing and disturbing.

I was a Democrat until after the 2008 elections, and have been listed on voter roles as "Decline to State" since then.

It's kind of lame how they almost try to force you to pick a party, but I said, "f x x x YOU, JOBU!!!" And I said No Party.

Which means you can't vote in certain party's primaries.

I wish it would happen, but since January 6th, when the adults had the opportunity and the right to take control, they lost control even further. If that couldn't do it, nothing can. The modern Republican Party is a group of authoritarian fascists who are using the evangelical Christian fundamentalists to gain more power. This isn't Reagan's Republican Party. This isn't William F. Buckley's Republican Party (God, I wish it were). This is Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Ted Cruz, and Josh Hawley's Republican Party. No matter what vile things they do and say, their followers won't stray from the path. They're brainwashed.

Reagan would be OK with an Assault weapons ban but both Reagan and Buckley would absolutely barf on a gun confiscation plan and would never allow the law abiding citizen to lose their basic 2nd Amendment rights as the cure for criminal activity. Is our National Debt too high or not? Is Wall Street, our politicians and our corporate media on knee pads to the CCP or not? And did the CCP kill over 1 Millions Americans through their duplicity on the handling of the Covid outbreak or not? Does the CCP produce the Fentanyl and do the Mexican Cartels bring in that and other drugs to help kill over 100 Thousands Americans per year or not? Does the CCP steal our industry's Intellectual Property at every turn or not? Is the Southern Border under our control or not (that includes money/power for the Mexican drug cartels, human trafficking, drug trafficking, death by exposure, sexual abuse of migrants, kid napping, etc, etc)? Are the preponderance (say 99%) of the Asylum requests from the wave of illegal immigrants fraudulent or not? Do our public schools fail our children with a very expensive mediocre (at best) education or not? Has the College Education Industrial & Government Complex tied a financial albatross around the necks of an entire generation of Americans or not? Any one who would say "NOT" to any of these questions smacks of someone drinking their own political bath-water and virtue signaling. Somebody should be giving the middle finger to the string of politicians and their voters responsible for the current state of our state and Trump and Marjorie are those middle fingers. Not people I would like to hang with on the weekends but I know why they got elected. Boo Hoo! AOC and Ilhan Omar, for example, have their constituency that think they are the middle fingers they want to give the politicians and voters they disagree with. I oppose them and their constituency politically but I get why they are there. The contrast is stark and easy to differentiate as to what policy approach is best for our future. But one thing is for sure, Mitt Romney will never solve anything other than perpetuate the status quo listed above for the sake of his own political survival. And and far as some Republicans being pro-life in the Roe vs Wade debate, most GOP Politicians have consistently been so since 1973, as was Reagan. Nothing new here. I always felt that reasonable people could reasonably disagree on this issue. But not now. Conform to my beliefs or you are brainwashed

Conform to my beliefs or you are brainwashed You talk about NATIONAL DEBT, and yet, under W and Trump, BOTH with Republican majorities in both houses for much of their terms, INCREASED the national debt at a higher rate than Clinton or Obama. That is a fact, the numbers are available for review, it's not open to debate. Trump and Majorie are arguably two of the most intellectually challenged (ie: STUPID) people ever elected in this country, and they're both woefully ignorant of how government works, and how the economy works. They're just ignorant, period. I'd throw Boebert, Gaetz, Hawley, and Cruz in with that bunch. All worthless, shameless, clueless human beings who don't give a rat's ass about anything except having the power to control the lives of other people. And NONE of them have an ounce of integrity or ethics. They'd all willingly steal the election and rig the system so the Republicans could never lose again. They support a fascist, authoritarian government like the one in Russia, because they're afraid of losing elections and losing their power. They're horrible human beings, and calling them human beings is a stretch. That speaks volumes about anyone who would support them. They're the people who ran me out of the Republican Party. They're trailer trash with money and power.
