Seems he's getting worse - rather than better. Was he a One Year Wonder ?
Some believe he's going to break out of it soon … we'll see.
Between him and Grisham, they're both great fielders - who currently are not getting the job done offensively.

I also have high hopes for Grisham as well, but not as confident in him on the offensive side.

Meanwhile……Ty France is off to a hot start this year hitting .334 with 5 HR, leading the AL in hits. Maybe the Pads should have kept him.

Jake is now past 100 AB (106) with very little to show for those ABs .208/.323/.644 doesn't impress … 3//14 against the Marlins. He did pick up 2 BBs, but also K'd 4 times. Gotta keep grinding, but at some point - and soon if he can't find the ball - Padres need to take some weight off his feet and just sit him for a day or two.
K's to start tonight's game. Wow.

Everything this year has to be taken into context with the league averages dropping significantly. This isn't the offense of old. There are more than 80 qualified hitters right now (many good ones) that have sub .600 OPS slash lines.

Hot Dog! He made it to first base.
Nevermind. Catcher's interference - E2

Two runners on. Strikes out looking. Then airmails a throw to first. Muncy's probably on anyway, but good grief.
Not the guy he was last year, but his better days early in the season helped his WAR. Even that is down from last year.
Padres can use all the production they can get out of his position. Hope he wakes up in September!

Let him DH for a while so he can concentrate on hitting. Drury can play 2B when his head gets right.

His HR last night (followed by Kim's) was YUGE - was a wake up call for the team.

I wonder if Cronenworth will do anything to make himself worthy of the All Star Game this year… at least he's a dependable glove at first base. But he hits no better than the dude that was there before him. Padres still don't have a good hitting position player at 1st base, and apparently won't for the next, what, 7 seasons? Hope to eat my words…

Yeah, not even comparable.

Heard on 97.3 that Jake has mind-boggling offensive splits when starting at 1B vs. 2B this year. His split when starting at 1B is the worst on the team, even worse than Nola, et al., which I couldn't believe.

Crone in July - 8 games, 25 ABs (30+ PAs), .320/.419/.979. Hopefully he, like Manny, have started to turn the corner.
Past 15 games: .250/.344/.709 - even if he gives us closer to that instead we'd be in damn good shape.
I'm optimistic, or maybe hopeful is a better word.
