Schwarber made the transition from catcher to left, Alfaro can do the same. We don't really have much of a choice do we? Schwarber is an awful defensive player. I guess we got Beaty now

Abrams goes to El Paso, and quickly takes advantage of the elevation, by homering twice in the Chiwowwow's (thank you, John Kentera) 10-9 loss last night.

I’m sure this guy has a future in MLB, I would feel more confident about him if he would have hit a little better. Not surprised .188 is generally par for the course for a typical Padre rookie callup.

CJ has suddenly developed right bicep issues. And it was just a little over a week after he collided with Profar. He landed hard on his upper right arm and I can easily say that the collision is part of this "sudden" problem. The shoulder is such an anatomically complicated joint with a lot of different muscles and tendons attaching. Jarring that joint with a direct jolt can easily change the normal fluidity of its' mechanics and put undue stress on a particular area.

Yeah, they both got rocked, and CJ's issues may be far from over. Hopefully the injury doesn't tarnish his trade value too much, since he's almost certainly "on the menu" as far as any trade talks go. If there's one guy who's expendable right now and has some trade value, it's him. It's unfortunate because I think he has real potential, but it seems likely to be the case that he'll be playing somewhere else in another week. I could see someone like Ruiz going with him, maybe Gore, too.
As long as they can get a true impact player or two out of it … Really don't need any more Luke Voits on the team (though he could well be in on that trade package - along with Eric Hosmer or Trent Grisham, or both - and it wouldn't bother me at all). The team needs a good offensive shake up, and it's going to cost them some starting players to get there. Just getting Junior back in the lineup isn't going to "fix things", though it should certainly help out.

He's not expendable in any deal unless it's for a superstar and I don't believe the collision has anything to do with him sitting out the game.

A young guy who doesn't play everyday doesn't typically develop Bicep issues unless it's from a specific throw or injury. Sorry, but the timing of the new problem so soon after the collision makes more sense than coincidence.

CJ said he started feeling it the weekend before the All-Star break, that's less than 9 days since the collision. He only played in 5 games during that time so yes, it could have been part of the beginning of the bicep problem.

Yeah, and you can play through bicep issues if you aren't starting every day. Seems plausible. Honestly the Padres medical staff is concerningly bad.

I think it's equally likely they are being cautious at the deadline. He took BP yesterday and was on the field.
