As if we didn't already have a tough schedule coming up against Georgetown and the John Wooden Classic, and later Michigan on the road, now
here is some interesting news from St. Mary's College who we will face after Michigan.
They are undefeated at 6-0 after beating Notre Dame at the Maui, 62-59, and just beat Oregon, 62-50, and will play Wisconsin in the finals
Wednesday November 24th. We know they usually have a pretty good team, but it appears as though they maybe even better this season.

Randy Bennett is a terrific coach. He knows where he is (small private school), he knows his limits (no 5* recruits), and those who he recruits are international/US high schoolers that show potential in his system.
SDSU is a much bigger program. The only similarity is they "recruit players that fit the Dutcher/SDSU system.
Both coaches are terrific evaluators.

SMC Gaels will play both CSU and the Aztecs during the OOC
Will be very important games for all .
Yes they do recruit guys from all over - have added guys from Europe and others players internationally besides the Aussies .
Now that the Zags can get top HS recruits - maybe some of the International guys have gone there . They have added Joe Rahon as a coach - he has been playing over in Europe he was a former Gael
They move and share the ball as well as any team - have gotten their usual tall post player and have the outside shooters .
Zags , BYU and SMC make the WCC a very good conference this season - getting extra at large bids could be difficult for MW if they continue to play well -

St. Mary's is down 4 to Wisconsin after leading by 10. I hope they can pull this out. Zebra's sending Wisco. to the line for crap fouls. Looks like a makeup call gave St. Mary's a 1&1 but they missed the front end. I think it's over. Too bad I don't give a rip about big10 anything.

They lost to Wisco, but I agree SDSU should have them on their non conference schedule.

The attendance was ok considering the late move to Las Vegas and no Nevada based teams. A tournament like this should happen at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas. 8 teams where all play 3 games. The new name is the Las Vegas Invitational.

They’ve got a really good squad this season. I feel like the past several seasons they’ve been a fringe good team, like good, but not good enough to really bolster our schedule. It would be a valuable win this year if we can get it.
Also, I’ll never forget the alley oop to Billy White against Patty Mills and Saint Mary’s at Viejas. Loudest moment I can recall in our gym, straight chaos.
