Right now it looks like at least four and as many as six spots will be up for grabs giving ESPN the ability to make some interesting matchups.
As of tonight, the P12 has 5 bowl eligible teams and needs both Oregon State and U$C to win out in order to get to the seven bowl games they have scheduled.
It looks like there will be at least one “open” bowl game slot.
As of tonight the B12 has six teams bowl eligible with seven guaranteed spots. However, it looks like the B12 will have at least two teams in the NY6 leading them to need 8 bowl eligible teams. Both WVU (at Kansas which is not a gimme) and TCU at ISU have to win next week. It looks like the B12 will be short at least one and maybe two teams.
Currently the ACC has 9 bowl eligible teams for 12 bowls including the likely one NY6 spot. All three of the remaining teams that can become bowl eligible must win next week to get to the required 12. FSU has to beat Florida Syracuse has to beat Pitt VT has to beat Virginia
More than likely at least one and maybe two slots will be available.
B1G will need 10 bowl eligible teams assuming they get three teams into the NY6, which I think is a pretty safe projection. The B1G will have only 9 bowl eligible teams as the final two teams that can become bowl eligible play each other next week.

It is 6 Pac-12 bowl eligible teams. Both Oregon schools, Washington State, Utah, Arizona State and ucla. The Holiday Bowl may have a local policy regarding SDSU playing in that bowl. Wake Forest may be the ACC team. The MW now has 7 bowl eligible teams and possible 8 if San Jose beats fresno.

This is why I posted last week that we'd get into a good bowl game if we got to 10 wins and didn't win the league championship. I sense us or Boise vs the AAC championship loser.

You know the bowl reps are looking at the attendance at Carson this year as they select teams.

Believe ND can be counted as a ACC team . How many teams from the SEC are able to play in a Bowl game ?

We should know by now that our record really has nothing to do with which bowl we get. Remember just a a few short years ago we were the MW champions, but because the LV Bowl (or whatever it was called) had a contract with BEE-why-Eww, we literally almost didn't even go to a bowl! The Aloha bowl took pity on us and had us go out there. All the more reason to get out of this league.

You know the bowl reps are looking at the attendance at Carson this year as they select teams. If that is the case we have had thousands of people travel every week to our games. Impressive.

I've heard a lot of words to describe the FB attendance for a 1-loss team this season, but "impressive" is not one of them.

From the Athletic:
P5 on the bubble (11): Cal, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, TCU, USC, Virginia Tech, West Virginia
G5 on the bubble (12): Ball State, Charlotte, FAU, Hawaii, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, San Jose State, South Alabama, Troy, Tulsa
Eliminated on Saturday (4): Illinois, Texas, Washington, Louisiana-Monroe
We’re down to 10 bowl spots remaining, which is more like eight when you factor in Florida-Florida State and Maryland-Rutgers both clinching bowls for the winner next week. Conference USA will also get two more eligible with a pair of games between 5-6 teams. There are a total of 23 teams still in contention to become eligible and fight for these spots, so the chances of a 5-7 team receiving a bowl invite are not looking especially good at the moment.

How difficult is it for the Bowl people to change the rules ?
Feel confident even if they did not qualify The Holiday Bowl would take Clemson

I wonder if the Aztecs could end up in the Holiday Bowl, or do they have arrangements with the a scrub from the PAC 12 vs the 6th place Big 10 team. A “home game” in Petco Park would be fun…..and well attended.

Hawaii is 5-7 now. Teams have to have a .500 or better record to be bowl eligible unless there are not enough bowl eligible teams. 20 teams are going for 10 spots.72 teams have become bowl eligible.

Well that settles it. Aztecs are playing Georgia in the Orange bowl.
All jokes aside, it is pretty crazy that Cin is hoping and praying for the opportunity. I get the just let us in, we will play anyone. But then you get Georgia. Tough year to crash the party.
