I know most of us (that care) have plenty of questions about the quality of the coaching staff and roster these last several years, but I think they'll be pretty good this year. They lost Asia Avinger for the season last year, and she seems to be the ingredient we were missing - lots of drives and kick outs for wide open threes so far. We have some really good transfers and freshman as well this year, so we'll see if Coach Terry-Hutson will be able to take advantage. Live action can be viewed here - goaztecs.com/watch Game started at 11 AM PST

Final score: SDSU 72 CSLA 57
57% from the 3, not bad.

Won't be paying much attention until conference play starts. She's never had a team finish higher than 5th in conference and typically around that 7-8th finish. No matter how bad things go she's here till after the 23-24 season.

We'll have to see. If this team can stay healthy, it looks like they are going to be pretty good. Haven't been able to say that in quite some time - even early in the season.

Thanks for the update. I've promised the kiddo a few more women's games this year, and she was pretty excited to hear they've already got a W under their belt. We sit at the very top for men's games -- so it's quite a unique perspective when she's sitting just a row or two off the court for the women.

If she's old enough, have her sign up to be an 'Aztec Ball Kid'. Though I think they may have filled all dates already this year. My daughter did that a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

I think she needs a couple more years under her belt. She gets a little shy in the spotlight anyway, so about Row 3 is right around where she needs to be for now. With a little luck, she'll be providing the Aztec scoring punch in 2032.

believe the Aztecs WBB is supposed to have the top newcomer in the MW - same lady as last year but she was injured so did not play
also I think Ramos may have opportunity to set some school records

Both the men's and women's 3 point line will be the same this year per NCAA rule change.

Both the men's and women's 3 point line will be the same this year per NCAA rule change. That's good to hear. Next, they need to make men and women use the same size ball. The 28.5" is a youth ball and honestly I think it's old school thinking that women need to use that size. Supposedly it was determined it would be better for ball handling and for long distance shooting for players with smaller hands and less upper body strength, but women will adjust. My daughter played at her (almost all-male) rec league for several years interspersed with playing AAU girl's basketball year round, and she had no issues adjusting to the 29.5" ball after a few practices. Of course, that also forced her to adjust back when playing ladies AAU and HS ball. I think it's much better for any player age 12 and up to use the standard size ball. I think eventually this will change. At least for high school and above anyway.
