They must really like our Defense or they didn't watch our offense and just saw that we won by a good margin.
Aztecs are #2 in Rushing Defense in the nation, so that's good.
#55 defense against the pass...meh.
But it makes sense. I don't think our pass defense is deficient. Most of the teams we play against, it's their only hope and so they chuck it. Our D lets them complete a TON of short passes, but our tackling is solid and it often results in 3 and outs. So, who cares if they complete passes if they don't really end up marching down the field or scoring.
Where things will really be tested is when we play Fresno State and Nevada. Or if Starks is healthy when we play San Jose State on Friday. Against elite QBs, the 3-3-5 has always struggled.
Either way, our defensive, RB smash mouth identity is appealing to voters. They like old school football and it garners respect.
