I'm about to order my tix for the game and in the letter there's a pregame tailgate option for $20. What does this include? Will Bill Hammett have an Aztec Legacy tailgate as well? Just trying to figure this out before I order - thanks for any info

I think the usual F-1 location may be reserved for the official Poinsettia Bowl tailgate - so any Aztec tailgates may be located elsewhere.
It may be best to call the Aztec ticket office tomorrow and ask them.
It's probably best to call the ticket office

I thought it was the Poinsettia Bowl's VIP Tailgate Party (http://www.poinsettiabowl.com/events/vip-tailgate-party.html), but it shows tickets for that as $40, and not $20. Still, unlimited food, beer, and wine? Hmmm. . .

I ordered got the tickets for the tailgater, I am taking my wife and she likes that kind of stuff. I don't really know anyone there but I still have fun. I will drink $20 worth of beer no doubt.

Just trying to figure this out before I order - thanks for any info The usual F1 area will be reserved for the Poinsettia Bowl VIP party which is always a good time. However...the Aztec Football Legacy pregame tailgate will be done in conjunction with the Alumni tailgate. The Athletic/Alumni folks asked us to be involved in their party and we were honored that they would have us. So there will only be one party as opposed to a number of fragmented ones. There has been talk of a location for this party but I am not sure I am allowed to share the location. I encourage all of you to go to the Aztec Athletics/Alumni tailgate and support the school...the AFL board will be making a HUGE push to get ex-players to the game. I would like to honor the '86 Holiday Bowl, '91 Freedom Bowl and '98 Vegas Bowl teams. This will get a lot of the ex-players out to the game. You can count on the largest collection of ex-players at an Aztec game EVER IN THE HISTORY of this program. With this...I am planning something else pretty special...can't really speak on it yet though. Make sure you all are coming to the game and bringing at least 4 other people!! I have promised Binkowski that we will get 55,000 into Aztec Warrior Stadium.

Bill, don't overlook the '69 Pasadena Bowl team that pounded Boston U. Some of them attend our games and one has twin sons at Mira Mesa who might look good in Red and Black.

Is there a separate "Aztec Athletics/Alumni tailgate" and, if so, where/how does one get tickets? On the SDSU website, there is an option to buy a $40 pre-game tailgate that has alcohol - is that the Alumni tailgate? HELP!

All the details regarding both the Pre-game Tailgate and Downtown Party...are scheduled to be released this Monday. Places and vendors are still being worked out. Thanks for your patience. I'm sure in a few years...after consecutive bowl appearances...sponsored celebrations will be a well oiled machine. Sign up now or wait until Monday...either way...as Bill said above...you are not going to want to miss anything. What a great time to be an Aztec!

Just trying to figure this out before I order - thanks for any info You get ugly looks from the ss. I've donated, gone to away football and basketball games, and all I ever got from Aztec Club was dirty looks from the ss. He will never say, "hello" or "hi" or "thanks for travleling all the way to Ann's Harbor or Colonbus Ojai-oh to support the Aztecs". $20 gets you a cold shoulder. mAd hAM With enough beer, that cold shoulder may looking like an approving nod. The dirty look that Raquel Welsh gave me at the last tailgate filtered through the beer looked like a "come hither stare". It was not till I got home later that my son told me it was Bella Abzug's older and less attractve sister that was there and not Raquel. I still say that beer is good for you!

OK...I must step into this discussion. The 1972/73 Aztecs (of which I had the honor of playing poorly on) lost a grand total of two (2) games in those two years, yet we were rewarded with nothing. I would like to suggest honoring those great teams at some point in the future.
As a side note - I think we had the distinction of being one of, if not the catalyst for the formation of the Holiday Bowl. The city put our Iowa State game on as an unofficial bowl game called the Carnation Bowl. It was a poor substitute for going to an actual bowl, but we were excited about it anyway. See Junior, your Dad was partially responsible for your being a Red Coat on the Holiday Bowl committee today, how about that??

There is an Alumni/Aztec Club tailgate, which includes the Legacy and your price options at $20.00/person for the food and water and soft drinks. For $20 more/person you will have access to an open bar, hence the total would be $40/person. This tailgate is not the POINSETTIA BOWL tailgate. There will be a Poinsettia Bowl tailgate for the general public and you can sign up for that on the POINSETTIA BOWL website. So, don't sign up for the wrong tailgate as you want to be with the true Aztec Fans. There is also another party downtown on the 21st that is an SDSU party, and there is a luncheon on Wednesday that is sponsored by the Poinsettia Bowl and that is on the Midway and you buy the tickets to that on the Poinsettia Bowl website. There is also a Life Member party for the Alumni Association with Dr. Weber on Monday, the 20th and you buy tickets to that on the Alumni website www.sdsualumni.com.

And another thing, there isn't room in the parking lot for a bunch of tailgates and they are discouraged so just come to the Aztec Club tailgate.

I was at the "Carnation Bowl"!!! - It was a blast. I remember fans dressed in Tux's, a Helecopter dropping Carnations onto the crowd and State beating the living crap out of the other team - Iowa State as I remember.

'bought many tickets to the Aztec bowel game...how do I know that the talegate tickets are for the Aztec Club? I called the Aztec Athletic Ticket office and she said I did purchase the Aztec Club talegate tickets. Any way to confirm even more? I bought them on goaztecs.com, via the Seasoned Ticket Holder...and quite a spicy one for that matter, but, again... How do you reallyreallyreally know ?? A Hardy handshake and thank you in advance.
