I was mentioning that to my dad. Perhaps we need to start looking at him as an option... Well you know the defense and special teams would be sound with Bobby. Go find an Offensive coordinator.

Shavers was thrown one pass an intermediate one. The pass was about 3 yards behind him. He turned back to try but couldn't do it, He had good separation on he route. Heck wasn't trying to be vanilla. HE IS vanilla. His 3rd Quarter play-calling showed he isn't when he wants to. So who is behind that? So there are plays we run that show creativity. So why isn't this always our offense? Heck or Hoke?

If I'm a HC, my OC would not call a game against my philosophy.
Same with every HC I've known about.
I'm not saying Heck is a good OC by any means. What I'm saying is the blandness that makes vanilla exciting might not be all on him.

Agreed. Only slight criticism is he does not punt well from the 50. Seems to blast those too. Still impressive. Maybe for punts from between the 40s we should send in 2nd string guy. It was weird seeing those punts make first contact in the end zone like I can see landing at thle 5 or 10 and bouncing:rolling in but landing in the end zone outright almost feels like a rookie mistake I was complaining whole game! Directional punting! Kick it towards the side lines!

Directional punting! Kick it towards the side lines! Coffin Corner punts are a thing of the past. Why? I HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA! Yes, there is some technique to be able to punt the ball so that it lands with the right spin to bounce backwards rather than into the end zone, but those punts are far less reliable than a coffin corner punt. That was the thing about the late 70's and throughout the 80's - the punts going out of bounds inside the 10 were the norm. Just imagine if some special teams coach actually tought that technique now! Pinning your oppponent inside the 10 is a momentum changer. Yeah, they got the ball back, but they're deflated because they're lining up in the end zone, or right outside of it.
