I am remembering the early days of the pathetic Padres. The stadium announcer would announce the names of the players heading out to the field. It would go....Blah, blah, blah, blah, number 11!! Enzo!!! Hernandez!!!!. Yes indeed AA quality players. But hadn't started my popcorn yet so didn't care. Now it sure does. Let's go boys time is running out. 1970 Padres weren't going anywhere. You should be.

So he would announce with enthusiasm, "Now batting, and playing shortstop, Number 11 Little Enzo (pause) Hernandezzzzz!!!" Loved it as a kid.

Used to sit in (what became) our seats in F34 down front - with a bugle. Give a kid a shiny new bugle to take to the game … thanks, Dad! With that and a glove, I was ready to go. They didn't win many back then - most times as we left, my dad would say "Well, you can't win 'em all…"
And I'd always reply, "We can't win any…".
Fast forward 50 years … and it seems like the new Padres are just like the old ones … but far more expensive to watch them play a craptastic brand of baseball now.
