Fairly soon, says a former LA mayor. The current one, perhaps more as a hope than as a serious prediction, says it's not going to happen. Some serious economic facts are becoming more and more clear, as Will points out in this column. One of the author's catchy sayings is that in Los Angeles ". . . the climate is usually Mediterranean and the fiscal climate is now Greek." Hard to see how lots of cities will not go broke with the State pulling back funds to balance its own books.

How soon? As soon as they can not cut spending any further. Is that possible?
I find it amusing that even Liberals can cut if there is no other choice. What they have cut has been even more amusing in a perverse way.
