Two million jobless Americans are scheduled to lose their unemployment benefits between now and Christmas, because Republicans and some conservative Democrats say we can't afford to keep funding the program.1
But guess what? Most of those same members of Congress are supporting an extension of the Bush tax cuts for the rich—a $700 billion tax bailout for millionaires.
It's terrible economic policy, and just plain immoral.
THE I'VE GOT MINE SO FUG YOU CROWD ARE MAKING THEMSELVES FELT IN WASHINGTON, JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS.
Glad tidings to all!

Get a grip Joe. There will be some time lag between the stability that extending the Bush Tax Policy and the creation of more jobs by small business. This is a great big problem with how to bridge that gap. There will be some more pain before we get going again.

This is a great big problem with how to bridge that gap. There will be some more pain before we get going again. The Bush tax cuts did not work to create jobs in ten years of deficit ballooning extravagance. Why in God's name do you think they will work now? The Republicans voted today to block tax cuts unless they get them for those who need them least. And Harry Reid said that Republicans will get to vote against tax cuts twice on Saturday. Someone is finally facing Republicans with cajones. It is about frigging time. Republicans understand nothing but the raw application of power. I say make them vote against tax cuts as often as possible. The commercials will be great. ;D Republicans: The party that hates tax cuts.

I expect Congress to cave to a compromise that sets the threshold at $1 Mil rather than the 250K. If not and this goes into next year, it will get extended in its entirety and just delay the recovery a little more. The problem has not been the very sound Bush tax policy, but rather the idiocy of Congress (and Bush) on the spending side. Democrats are once again showing their willingness to do harm to the country for political reasons.

Your piano is out of tune. So, I hope any compromise falls apart, actually. If the Democrats show some cajones, the Republicans will vote against tax cuts or they will be responsible for the restoration of sensible tax rates. I am not like Obama, I want Republicans to be cornered. You see, I think conservatives would sacrifice their neighbors to penury on order assist people who care not one whit about them. They want to enrich those who would use them like toilet paper to get what they want. And all that because they all think that they will be super rich one day.

You seem to forget tht Clinton was blessed with a Republican Congress to wich he caved. Bush was saddled with a liberal Congress whichhe did not have the guts to veto their spending. Pretty simple!
