Ok Super Digger Now you can start a New Post of Visits for the Aztecs - Is Elijah the first for the Aztecs ? The current Aztec recruits taking visits are PF 6'8" Saunders and SG 6'6" Byrd. It would be a short post. Both players are P5 & high mid-major athletes. Depending on what happens we have plan B options.

From SDUT-9/1/2021
Saunders, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward from Sunnyslope High in Phoenix, may take the longest of the three to decide. He tweeted pictures with his parents at SDSU with the hashtag, “#notcommitted.” He has yet to visit his other finalists: South Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and Miami.
The Aztecs are the only non-power conference school among the final five. They’re also the only school not in the Eastern time zone, and Saunders would have a shot at immediate playing time with the departure of bigs Joshua Tomaic, Tahirou Diabate and Aguek Arop.
“He looks like an NFL tight end,” Sunnyslope coach Ray Portela told Irish Sports Daily. “For a high school player, his physical frame, you don’t see that every day. Plus, with a guy that big who can move quickly, he can guard guys out on the perimeter. He shoots the 3 extremely well and stretches the floor. As a player, he presents problems. You don’t see kids like this in college very much.”

It would be hard to pass up Notre Dame. Great academics, tradition, facilities, etc. However, they are not a Jordan school and he will look good in our colors and gear. Fingers crossed as he seems to be the biggest prize out of the group. Fingers crossed but I wouldn't hate on the young man if he chooses the Irish.

exactly If he has always been a ND/ACC fan then very hard to beat them out - if not then he and other guys have their own priorities that usually come to how he would be developed to get to the Pros .

IDK, ND hasn't been a tourney team in 5 years, and not even NIT since 2018. If he wants to contend for a conference title and/or play in the NCAA tournament ND doesn't carry much appeal at all. i wouldn't even think they're top 2, given the rest of his options, but you never know when it comes to 17 or 18 year old kids and it's not like any of the 4 P6's he's considering are traditional winners of late.

If he ever goes back to South Bend for a football game, we're toast.

If he was there this weekend ND played at Florida State - -
If he did come here - he would be close enough for friends and family to come watch him play - but far enough so he would not be at home
But as mentioned guess for Elijah- as with other talented players you want to play in MM and then get to the NBA / Pros as quickly as possible

Hope whatever school he chooses works out well for him. I really enjoyed the trip to South Bend ( 2018 ?) to see our football team almost upset The Irish but I was really suprised that other than The University there was absolutely nothing (except a Golden Corral) nearby. If I'm 18 years old I don't think it would be a good fit for me.

Nearing a decision per Arizona Preps. I don't subscribe, so no additional insights on the story.

Rivals forecast has us at 100% from a Jaime Shaw. Not sure on his accuracy or insight. What’s interesting is they are showing between South Carolina And us.
Maybe Gundo or Boise can give us some insight. Me likely the big boy at PF.

He cancelled his South Carolina visit so safe to say it won’t be them.

I haven’t heard anything specific to Elijah in maybe 10 days, the quote was more likely than not he would be an Aztec… I did hear earlier this week that a commit was coming soon… but I was lead to believe it was Koren…
