Hard to get too excited about being in the top 10.Wake me up when we're in the top 3 or 4. FYI Schools dropped include: St. John's, Tulsa, Fresno St, SJSU, Cal Poly, UC Davis, UCR, USD, Lehigh, UTEP, Nor Az, Duquesne, Boston U, Montana, Rice & South Dakota

Offered by Norte Dame 8/17, two weeks after his short list. Just shows how these very preliminary top X lists are meaningless until they've narrowed their choices and have completed their visits.

Totally agree if a recruit gets an offer from a Power school no matter where they are in the process they may change their mind

Totally agree if a recruit gets an offer from a Power school no matter where they are in the process they may change their mind Doesn't matter if it's a P6 or MM school. New offers change the equation, no matter who it may be. Especially if that new offer happens to be closer to home or in a location which appeals to the kid or if they have a coach on staff he's known for a while. I think one of the stupidest things introduced not too long ago are the top 8/10 type of lists. They serve no purpose, other than to draw attention to the kid (thank you social media). How often do you see a top 6 or 8 introduced & it ends up being someone off the list? If you want to narrow to 3 or even to who you're using your visits, sure. But this other stuff is useless.

In the social media age of Tik Tok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter; athletes are building up their own loyal fan bases to become their own walking and talking endorsements, most want the attention, and the word of mouth about their own brand so any tactic to grow conversations, amplify their messages and engage with their audience will continue to be posted. Now with the new NIL ruling athletes can earn as many bucks as they wish through monetizing their social media accounts, teaching camps, signing autographs and other entities.
It may be useless to some, but positive to the athlete in the future. The larger the following, the more money you can make.

yes they are Media Savvy but my guess is that coaches want to see film on players - with out the hype
Good coaches can see talent they think they can develop - rather believe the hype -
they also want to know about character the guy has - is there a fit there for the school also

Elijah Saunders discussed each option with On3. www.on3.com/news/elijah-saunders-class-of-2022-power-forward-cuts-list-5/ Saunders on San Diego State “They’ve been really successful in the Mountain West,” Saunders said. “I think during that COVID year, they were the no. 1 team in the country. Coach (Brian) Dutcher is a really good coach. The appeal for them is me being able to come in and have a big role as a freshman. It’s a really nice campus, and close to home.”Saunders on Notre Dame “Coach (Mike) Brey has been really successful,” Saunders said. “He’s been there for forever so he doesn’t really have to worry about his job security. They were my last offer but that doesn’t mean anything for me. They’ve had success with players with my skill set.” Saunders on Miami “I talk to them every day,” Saunders said. “Coach L (Jim Larrañaga) sends me texts every day. It’s really nice…ACC.” Saunders on Virginia Tech “Coach (Mike) Young was just ACC coach of the year,” Saunders said. “They’ve had a lot of success in the past couple of years. They play through their bigs and they’re losing guys, so just an opportunity to play right away.” Saunders on South Carolina “They were my first high major offer,” Saunders said. “There’s a relationship there between my dad and someone he knows back in Chicago. I like Coach (Frank) Martin a lot. I feel like he’s a player’s coach. He’s tough. The SEC is a great conference to showcase your skills.”

I think its between SDSU and Notre Dame. Quick, somebody send something COMPLETELY UNSUBSTANTIATED about Notre Dame recruiting irregularities to Gary Parrish! He'll take it and run with it.

Assume his other visits are to these cities. 1. Blacksburg, VA 2. South Bend, IN 3. Columbia, SC 4. Miami, FL You typically want to be first or last, so there's that.

Welp, San Diego was his first, the list above is NOT chronological or in rank order. Three Southern schools, and Notre Dame in tiny & cold but prestigious South Bend, IN.
