What are everyone’s thoughts on this kid? Is it a score if we get him? Massive!

Great pick-up - should fit into the Aztec style very well, and gives you a taller version of Mitchell (think that's a better comparison than JJ). Like this quote:
“My dad and I, a couple weeks ago when I started to look more into playing styles, we were watching Matt Mitchell’s game against BYU last year,” Saunders said of the senior forward’s 35-point performance, 26 in the second half to trigger a furious comeback. “He was going off. They kept feeding him the ball. They played free and gave it to the hot hand. I was like, ‘Wow, they really let their players go.’”
Like with recruiting everywhere, the 1st one serves as a building block & motivator for the next few to come in. Hopefully we hear from Byrd & Johnson in the next few weeks!

f x x x Yes, beat Out Notre Dame and SO Carolina Miami was apparently his 3rd choice, given he took an official visit there & not SC.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this kid? Is it a score if we get him? I'd have to go back to remember, but I said that he reminded me of JJ O'Brien . If I said that I couldn't have paid a better complement. Yet, he is bigger and can shoot from the outside. Another "gym rat" that we look for. Very good job of the coaches to land him. Welcome to SDSU Elijah!

247sports.com/Article/Elijah-Saunders-commits-to-San-Diego-State-Basketball-Recruiting-171637621/San Diego State has added their first player in the Class of 2022 and he is one who could potentially make an impact from the jump. This evening, three-star big man Elijah Saunders announced his commitment to Brian Dutcher and the Aztecs. "My relationship with the coaching staff and their belief in me was why I committed," says Saunders. "They have a winning program. The location is great because it is close to hope and I just it was the best situation for me." A 6-foot-8 frontcourt prospect out of Sunnyslope (Ariz.) chose San Diego State over opportunities at Miami, Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. His relationship with the coaches on staff. "Coach Dutcher was the separating factor for me," says Saunders. "What he told me and his belief in me stood out between all the other schools. I want to play in the NCAA Tournament and compete for conference championship." With Saunders being their first 2022 commitment, the Aztecs are getting a big-bodied skilled forward with terrific touch inside the arc. When asked what the program is getting out a player like himself, he says, "A hard worker. I am always in the gym. I feel I am someone who can do a lot of things on the court."

I’m a little surprised at the lack of excitement for Elijah. He is an impact player. He is Matt Mitchell, but with a bigger body…
This is fantastic.

So stoked to get the 2022 recruiting started. One down, two to go. Then, to the transfer portal for some experience.

The only bad news is that we will have to wait more than one year to see this young STUD on the Steve Fisher Court. But, he is definitely gonna be worth the wait!
A really great addition to the Aztecs!
Coaches: Please continue attracting more hiigh character gymn rat players. Every Aztec fan is grateful for your fine efforts!!

Love this get! Pumped to get this young man and he is from the Compton Magic which is a big deal. Open up that pipeline and send those kids our way as they have really good ballers. Well done Coaches and two more to go. I like our future because it is bright!

Was La Bradford Franklin the last Compton Magic player to play for the Aztecs?
