Again with the shoulder.
Seems like it'll be an ongoing problem. No word yet, obviously, but he grabbed at it right away after stretching out for a ball and was then doing some rotations. It may have popped itself out again.
Tough time to have it happen… gotta wonder if/when it'll need to be mended surgically, or if it even can be.

Maybe it will be managed until the end of the season, then offseason surgery

The Padres absolutely need his bleacher busting bat in the lineup. If he keeps getting hurt while playing SS, maybe his future should be in the OF.

He grabbed a bat in the bottom of the eighth today, though it wasn't clear why. The pitcher's spot wasn't up for several more batters.

Rumors of an injury may have been greatly exaggerated …
3 HR already tonight. Dialed in much?

I just love this kid.
My favorite player to watch in MLB.
Though, how likely is it he's our left fielder in 2023? (If not sooner). He's a butcher in the field, LOL.

True. Had a kinda bad error the other night, but you're not wrong.
I guess much of it depends on Abrams glove and arm, in a year or two. I hear he is considered the superior defender, in scouts eyes.
I am curious if Tatis would oppose the move, or go along with it. Grisham is a STUD CF, so maybe Tatis in LF.

I think the issue is Tatis is addicted to seeing himself on Baseball Tonight, so ANY chance to make a play of the week he is going to take it. He is very aggressive running the bases and at the plate, so it makes sense he is that way in the field. Unfortunately that has led to him tossing more than a few balls into RF, usually at bad times during close games. The glove is fine, he just needs to know when to stick the ball in his back pocket.
His arm in the outfield would be epic, probably rivaling Ellis Valentine, Jesse Barfield or even the great Clemente.

You only make that move if you're certain Tatis can be, and not just to soothe his ego about wanting a more "premium" position. Fair, or no?

Don't think it matters. Grisham's arm is the problematic piece in the move. I firmly believe Fernando sticks at shortstop though.

So maybe Abrams goes to the OF?
Or is your ideal scenario Hosmer DH, Cronenworth 1B, Abrams 2B?

I think Tatis would make an incredible center fielder, over time. He's got it all for the position, arm, speed, instincts, etc... It's not an easy position to grasp right away, but if anyone can, it would be Tatis.
Having said that, I think he stays at shortstop for most of his career.

Tatis leads the league in errors (17), his fielding % is historically bad (.919) and his defensive WAR is not good either (-.02). He’s the opposite of Austin Hedges.
I’m sure The Padres will give their All Star Hitter plenty of slack and wait well into next season before making some adjustments, let’s just hope there is no Bill Buckner like moment in the playoffs or that he doesn’t take some lady’s head off in the Toyota Terrace with an errant throw.

And, if he does inadvertently blow up some lady's head with an errant throw, there's a great chance he's already made up for it with his bat, or he's about to, and that's a lot more than you could have expected out of Buckner.

And Tatis has also been favoring his left shoulder the entire season. He only had 3 errors last year in 57 games.
