It's interesting that Friedman, a fellow who is a bit left of center, is pointing out what many of us with a more common-sense attitude toward things have been saying for some time. The gravy train has run off the tracks. I agree with most everything Friedman says. (You guess the points on which I disagree with him.) Is it too late for those who control our government to wise up? www.nytimes.com/2010/05/09/opinion/09friedman.html?ref=opinionAzWm

Man... a lot of us were just born at the right time. The babyboomers could do anything they wanted to. The door was wide open for almost everyone. I am seriously concerned for my daughter's generation...it is going to be so much harder for them. After a few more years they may want to turn us all into Soylent Green!

Friedman has finally identified some of our problems. He has also pointed out that the Brits had the misfortune to not elect any party to ramrod the needed fix over there so most likely it will be a lot tougher to get anything of substance done.
Here at home we seem to be on the way of throwing the bums out. Both parties I hope! Now lets see if anyone can get their arms around the spending problem.

There are political solutions to each of the three areas you point out. I don't think I care to discuss any of them except maybe resources, nor would I advocate political solutions to the other two. Just saying...................
