When is Koren committing? Has he announced any dates? I saw back a bit it was expected in mid September so I would think he is close? Just getting ready to go streaking just need to know what date I can start celebrating. maybe if Johnson comes he brings his 4* teammate (aztec are recruiting) Chris Bunch! 247sports.com/player/chris-bunch-46097796/Sweet! I am in so let’s do this.

Let's add PG Koren Johnson first. UDub vs SDSU.

If Koren comes to SDSU, he is likely the starting point guard as a freshmen… I know Dutch says get old and stay old, but he has also said that they are only recruiting impact players at the high school level this year amd Koren is just that. No question that in accordance with Aztec basketball, he would have to earn the starting job, but he is being recruited to do just that. Not sure he beats out Butler as a Junior. And I don't think Butler is a good enough shooter to be strong as a shooting guard. Butler was not a good enough shooter last year, also Butler's quickness and height defensively plays much better at the PG position then SG. Miles Byrd will be starting at SG next year, Dinwiddie backing him up, so yeah no way Butler ends up at the SG position. But Butler + Johnson would be a solid PG tandem. You want two ideally anyways.

So, do you think the Aztecs have stopped recruiting Chris Bunch because of the commitment from Byrd?

Too bad he transferred to Utah for his Senior year. He probably misses home a little already. I think Washington may have the edge because it's home. Doesn't he also have a good friend who already committed there?

Washington is home for KJ. However, it is not a program "on the rise." The Huskies need to get a lot better real fast to even get a sniff of MM in the next couple of years.
The Aztecs offer a strong, well coached team that will be very competitive in practice and in games. In terms of player development, winning championships, and the opportunity to play in MM the Aztecs have a much better chance of playing in March and maybe April.

Do we think Bunch choosing Washington would make it more or less likely Johnson that signs there?

Do we think Bunch choosing Washington would make it more or less likely Johnson that signs there? Per Boise, he's pretty confident we'll get Johnson but that said a current teammate going there may factor into the equation. I don't think Bunch & Johnson have actually played together yet, so not sure how close they truly are? But the call of home can never be ignored.

Just read an article about Matt Bradley and it mentioned that he graduated in 2018 from the same school that Korin Johnson is attending this year. I would think that has to help us.

Think it could help if they actually communicate - but each recruit has their own things that they think are important

I'd bet Dutch/Dave & crew knew that & involved Matt in hosting him on his visit. Myles has said he knows him as well & was going to reach out to him. Like our chances. While I've never believed anything is "100%" when it comes to 17-18 year old kids, I would put our odds at better than 60-70% based solely on rumors, and anything over 51% is a good thing.
