He's done. He's moving back to Alabama to coach High School Football.

Even when the Chargers moved to LA, I was still a Philip Rivers fan. The experts used to rag on him for his unorthodox throwing style, but he certainly got the job done.
-63,440 career yards! -11 seasons over 4,000 yards. -421 career touchdown passes. -134-106 QB record. -NEVER GOT INJURED, which is remarkable when you consider the mediocre OLs and receivers the Chargers had during the prime of his career.
Too bad he never got to play in a Super Bowl.

However, to quote the coach on the movie The Program played by James Caan, “If you are hurt you can still play, if you’re injured you can’t.” Suffice it to say, Phillip Rivers was as tough as they come.

There are definitely a few teams who would be foolish to at least not consider bringing him on board, including his old team. He'd obviously only go to a team with a shot at the playoffs - doubt he wants to be killed, but when you look at some rosters like Indy (if Wentz is truly out for half the year+), Carolina, Dallas if Dak's shoulder is worse than they're letting on, etc., I'd take Rivers in a heartbeat! How is it with so many QB's going into the NFL every year, including 2-4 in the 1st round typically, there are so few quality NFL QB's?

How is it with so many QB's going into the NFL every year, including 2-4 in the 1st round typically, there are so few quality NFL QB's? It's mind boggling. It may have to, in large part, be due to the speed of the game and not being able to catch up to it. Also, you have to be either really smart, or have great instincts to make it. You can't be indecisive as a QB in the NFL, and as you know, it's SPLIT second decision making. A lot of teams also find out the arm strength just isn't there. I'm a big Rivers fan and I'm positive he can help one of those teams you mentioned.
