In reaction, I'm just really glad I'm not a young person today. I got really lucky to be born when I was, probably you as well. I saw the greatest times. In the early 70's and 80's the opportunities were sick good. It was so good its almost unbelievable it even happened. You can blame it on whatever you want. I played 21 with a kid outdoors yesterday. he's 14. we were both masked. It was fun, but if he really tried, I never woulda got a shot off. Youth against age will always win. But as we were walking off the outdoor court, he said "covid ruined everything". It had killed his high school freshman year for sports and academics. I felt terrible for the kid, made me think back to high school and how hard it seemed. These kids these days are hurting bad. The adults are not helping them by fighting over $#!+ and not giving them a world we got to enjoy.

I felt terrible for the kid As I have a kid who has been out of school now for a year, I'd even take in-person learning where his math teacher was teaching critical race theory because at least he'd be in school. Unless the teacher's union caves in, my kid will not be able to get back in to class for another year. Not kidding. The teacher's union has said some teachers may not take the vaccine for health or religious reasons and they want all the kids to be vaccinated before they'll agree to resume full time in-person learning. Currently the Pfizer vaccine is approved for kids aged 16 and up. Moderna has said they'll have approval for kids aged 12 and up but not until this fall. My kid is under 12, and the under-12 approval isn't expected until sometime in early 2022. Currently we are looking at a situation after this summer where the COVID-19 pandemic is over, with everyone over 16 being vaccinated, and all San Diego Unified Elementary students still in distance learning for half the year because of the teacher's union. |

Our non-profit foundation gives out scholarships to graduating seniors and increasingly males make make up only about one third or one quarter of the group receiving such recognition (and I am being generous with that estimate).
