Originally from Oceanside, started as a true freshman at Arizona. Not confirmed but here's his Twitter post: Oldie Out That would be a HUGE get for the team!! 3* recruit out of HS with several P12 offers in addition to UA & ours. 93rd ranked tackle in 2018 recruiting class. Found this little notation on him after the 2020 season from a UW blog where the guy went around the P12 & found 1 player at each position he'd like to steal & be a Husky: "Twenty-four-straight starts, the first true freshman at Arizona to start at left tackle in over a decade. Key presence in pass protection for UA, which allowed the third-fewest sacks in the conference (20) in 2018. Even though Laie has been playing left tackle for the Wildcats, there is a good chance he's going to be moved inside to left guard, where he still has two starts to his name." A UA blog in June says they actually expected him to remain at LT heading into the season. Assuming this is true - fingers crossed it is, my assumption would be he'd RS this season as a transfer & step into the starting spot next year. That said, given C19 & the fact he's transferring closer to home, there's a good chance he could obtain a waiver & play right away. Great find - just hope the cryptic message is what we think it is!

Clearly, he must be on the all academic team as well. I would consider him brilliant for this move if it is true. Besides, one weekend in Tucson and I couldn't leave fast enough. (side note: felt the same way about Albaturkey after attending an Aztec basketball game a few years back)

His twitter feed seems to indicate his father recently passed.

RB Justin Dinka recently entered the transfer portal so that's potentially an open scholarship for Laie

Every season, there's always "comings and goings" especially with the transfer portal being available. This season's "disgruntled 4th stringer" could be next season's transfer. It's an ongoing cycle especially with our program's culture where there's always competition at every position, nothing is bestowed.

RB Justin Dinka recently entered the transfer portal so that's potentially an open scholarship for Laie Bummer, but no surprise given our depth at that position. Wonder if he'll transfer somewhere close to home to improve his odds of getting a waiver so he won't have to sit again, or maybe he goes to a JC?

Interesting, Have also seen that Justice and McTear have not been picked up or had any action recently, these are some of the top SDSU recruits from the past few years.

Interesting, Have also seen that Justice and McTear have not been picked up or had any action recently, these are some of the top SDSU recruits from the past few years. Justice is a surprise in that in theory he could/should have selected another program last December/January, and participated in Spring football elsewhere. Not sure what's going on with him? McTear, Dinka & the others are more recent, and given its chaos out there who knows what they'll find? McTear should land somewhere - he's talented & looks the part, but the windows have to be closing. Hence why I wonder if Dinka might go JC? Or maybe they have landed but it's just not public yet? Haven't seen the latest numbers, but at one point it was projected that around 1500 FBS players would enter the portal (there were 1000 by early April), or about 12-13 per team on average. Have to think we're on the low end. And not sure I'd classify anyone we've lost as significant since none were in the 2-deeps or even projected to be.
