Interesting we couldn't match that deal.. Or maybe he just wanted to sign with the Dodgers

As a result of this the Padres get a compensation pick in next years draft. Which will be after the first round and before the second round. pretty cool.

The dodgers based on last year's stats, would have the best 5 man staff in baseball. If they upgrade at catcher and get a bat in left field they could be tough

1yr/5mil for Garland seems like a bargain, don't know why we could have kept him here. I'd much rather have had him return than sign Harang.
Jon would already be familiar with the staff and ballpark. Plus we need a veteran presence on the squad. Oh well...
