Even though he was not projected to be picked early, i still think he will be a starter in the NFL. One of the best linebackers I have ever seen at SDSU.

Only thing I can think of about Tezino is that they think he’s too short.

this is disgraceful that only 1 AZTEC got drafted. The AZTECS placed 4 players on the all conference teams that were in the draft. 5 total with one coming back to SDSU in the fall.

If you look at the players taken this year, the big conference teams had even more players taken than usual. LSU had14 or 15. SEC heavy draft!

Not having a pro day this year really hurt Barcoo and Tezino as they weren't able to show themselves to NFL scouts. They weren't able to run the 40 also.

Didn't conspire but not a lot of attention paid to non P5 either.

It's a lot easier for a GM to justify a draft pick that doesn't work out when the pick was from the SEC, BIG10, etc., as opposed to one from the MWC.

I agree, and thought Barcoo stats would at least get him taken by the 5th or 6th round. But, the P5 schools were given much more attention this season. Also, all a team had to do was study game film of Barcoo & Tezino, and that should have told them most of what they needed to know. It's called doing your research/homework, and apparently many pro teams did not go that far, or were not as interested if they did. Who knows?

NFL teams uncover every stone, and definitely do their homework. There were NFL guys at Aztec games & practices throughout the year. The lack of a pro day did probably hurt, but both had big physical hurdles to overcome. Both are undersized The fact Luc signed such an incredible FA contract shows they still scouted him pretty well & are very interested, and Tezino will have a chance to prove he can match up with the big boys.

Goes to the Redskins at pick 156. The 49ers picked him, but traded him and their next year 3rd round draft choice to the Washington Redskins for DT Trent Williams. Imagine, had Ismael remained with the 49ers he could have been teamed with Dan Brunskill who is slated to be a starting guard next season.

The 49ers traded that pick to the Redskins prior to it occurring and the Redskins selected him. It wasn't a pick n' trade scenario. Those rarely happen in the NFL draft since trades are allowed to be official right then and there. Pick n' trades happen a lot in the NBA draft because the NBA doesn't make trades official during the NBA drafts. It's all just gentleman's agreement. And, Trent Williams is an OT, not a DT.

Yeah my bad, TW is an OT. Hey it's the off season, everyone's not at their game.

Compared to last years Round 5 pick in the same order, he should have about $300k guaranteed. The pundits say that he should be a decent back-up and future starter at center.
Oldie Out
