Can GM (forget Chrysler for the moment) actually reinvent itself and become self-sustaining? I'm not sure. What I fear is that they will still need huge amounts of federal money to develop the cars needed to meet the new U.S. fuel efficiency standards coming in just 6 years. They are nowhere near being ready for that now.
Meanwhile, here's the latest on the repayment story. Seems it's no longer possible for Treasury to deny that the loan was paid back with money from a different pile of govt. supplied dough.
