Having both of them losing at home is huge. Seton Hall had recently become the chic pick by talking heads for a possible #1 seed down the road. Xavier is ok but had been on the outside of the bubble before today.

Connecticut vs Memphis is crazy today. I guess the refs are “letting them play” as there are 44 total TOs and 25 steals with 4 minutes left.

also, the game between Unlv and Colorado State. Should Colorado State win, it will give the AZTECS a 4 game lead in the loss column over every other MWC teams. Csu's Stevens hits a dagger 3 to end the first half. this game is on espn3. Csu up 41-36 at halftime.

Csu beats Unlv 95-77 giving the AZTECS a 4 game lead over everyone else in the loss column. Also, Gonzaga up 75-72 with 3 minutes left.

with the UNLV loss puts USU in very good shape to be #2 seed in the MW if they beat us . So extra incentive for USU

Some interesting (IMO) Sagarin notes:
After beating the Aggies, we now have 5 top 50 wins and 2 top 25 wins. This is exceeded only by Baylor with 7 and 3.
We are .09 behind Maryland for #6; currently we are #7.
Creighton up to #18; Iowa #20; BYU #31.
Other MWC teams in top 100 - Utah St. #50; BSU # 78; Nevada #80; CSU #94.
MWC #10 conference, but very close to being #9 (.02 behind Atlantic 10.)
If we were to play #1 Kansas today on a neutral court, we would be 4 point dogs; 2 point dogs against Gonzaga.
#4 Baylor is still the team that I wouldn't want to face until the NC game.

Iowa beats Illinois who was in 1st place in the Big 10 or 12. I don't know the names of the conferences anymore. Big win for Iowa which boosts their resume for the Big Dance and helps the Aztecs. Hear the announcers say that the Big 10 or 12 will get lots of teams to the Dance. My guess is that any team in this conference with a 500 winning percentage in conference play will get in. JMO |
