Nope, can’t be done. They’ve scheduled the maximum amount of games allowed by NCAA rules. Plus, other than the WCC and a couple other lower level Conferences, every league has their tournament the week after the MWC Tournament. I guess they could scrimmage against the Fraternity/Intramural All-Stars behind closed doors. could we do another alum scout team like we had in preseason ? You think if we were undefeated going in to the dance, our high profile alum would come such as Pope, mcd, shepard, Spencer, THE KLAW? ? Those guys will all still be playing in their pro leagues. Can you imagine the outcry from Clips fan or owners if KL got hurt in a scrimmage during the season.

Rest is very much a good thing, the rust nonsense argument isn’t logical It IS logical when you are used to playing twice a week. Heck, even once a week! Just ask the Ravens The 49ers beg to differ, lol

Anyone know where most Aztec fans stay in Vegas for the tournament? Where does the team stay? If you're like me and cigarette smoke makes you sick this is the best deal in town (and staggering distance from T&M): www.theplatinumhotel.com/

We had 11 OOC games and 1 X game and 1 scrimmage -( plus the MW Conference games) is that the limit for us or could we play another OOC game or even scrimmage an opponent ?

I’ve never heard of a team having a game after their conference tourney. We would have to schedule a crappy Div 1 team with no hope of post season like Chicago state that can use a pay day. I’d be for it if possible.

To brush it off and say that teams can't get rusty with a long time off, is very debatable.

The NCAA allows D-1 schools to play 27 games plus one tournament or 29 games without a tournament. They’re scheduled to play 26 + the LV Tournament, so it looks like they could play one more. But, they’d have to find a team who hadn’t played their maximum and aren’t in a Conference Tournament The extra week off hasn’t really hurt Gonzaga,

The Owner of South Point Hotel Michael Gaughan is a Creighton Alum. He is a generous guy. During the Las Vegas Continental Tire Tournament this year, he provided free stay for all Creighton Alums at his hotel. Do we have any Alums that owns hotels in Las Vegas? Not a hotel but if you are driving in, stop by Eddie World. It’s Aztec owned. www.sdsualumni.org/s/997/rd16/interior.aspx?sid=997&gid=1&pgid=7775

I don't understand why the MW is having their Conference Tournament two weeks before the NCAA's? Isn't needed, and you usually get 5-6 days off before they start anyway.

And to avoid giving up the big check the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors (or what ever they're are called in LV) pays the conference for using the T&M. Otherwise the tournament could have easily been played in Viejas.

Does the LV Convis group pay the MW conference for having the T there ( or MW get a % of the Hotel rooms booked- maybe the same thing you are saying ) and is it that the MW gets to use the T&M at a much lower price then other venues ?
Think there was an option to play the MW at another Venue not in Las Vegas say here in San Diego at our arena . But coaches did not want to give us any advantage or was it the money that many of the schools get from the T. This year UNLV could get that advantage - that should be an issue .
Would Anaheim be a good spot ? If Basketball and MM is more important then the money earned for many lower level teams from playing in Las Vegas or is it the fan bases having the weekend to party ?

From what I've been able to tell, the WCC moved theirs a week earlier, like we did. The Pac-12 is still doing theirs the 2nd weekend and just dealing with the additional cost (I saw on their site a 2-night package deal for the semis and final for $1425).
