Asked my wife if that was her first Aztec buzzer-beater, and she replied that she was present for one during the 2010-11 season where DJ won it. Can't recall that one, but it got me thinking: What else have I forgotten in that capacity?
Two that jump right out -- but are on the road -- were Polee to beat Boise, and DJ with the MWCT buzzer beater (layup?) in 2011 against UNLV. There was also an NIT buzzer beater at Arkansas State, if I'm not mistaken.
As for Viejas, the only ones (on the Aztecs' behalf) are against USC and Long Beach (?) (that one by 'Maal So Hard, who was inured on the play) and the one against SC on a pick play at halfcourt ("Crack" something or other) that led to a difficult layup by -- maybe? -- X?
On the other side of the ledger, I can swear there's been a couple for opponents. I want to say UNLV took one about 6 years ago at Madhouse.
Anybody recall any others? I'm sure I'm forgetting occurrences from the first 10 years at Cox.

There's the one that rolled around the rim at UNLV in the MWC tourney I think it was in maybe 06-07? I remember Brandon Heath looking at it roll around and then went nuts when it went in as time expired
Obviously that one wasn't at Cox/Viejas, but it sticks out as one of the most memorable in my mind

I believe we lost on a last-possession trey against Indiana in the NCAA Tourney. Robert Vaden, I believe, shot over Marcus Slaughter with maybe 10 secs. left for the win. (I believe they picked up another point or two from FTs in desperation time.)
And, of course, there was the wide-open trey that Kawhi missed with about 30 secs left against Tennessee in the Tourney that might've won it for the Aztecs, followed by the wide-open corner trey that Spain missed at the buzzer that would've definitely won it.
And my memory is fuzzy, but didn't Sharper hit a half court trey at the buzzer just before the half against Harden's Sun Devils?
The bottom line is this: Flynn's shot was the most dramatic I've seen at Viejas.

Here's the SC buzzer beater. Tim Shelton sets the halfcourt "crack" for X...

Ive had a lot of great memories at Viejas arena. The Jamaal buzzer beater against UNLV had to be the loudest at the end of the game. But yesterday shot had to be the most difficult shot made by an Aztec at the end of the game. That was on two athletic defenders moving right to left.

See? I've got Old-Timers. No buzzer-beater v LBSU. Just a really damn-close game. That was a pretty talented Beach squad, if I remember correctly. Couple of big-timer scorers. The other thing I remember about this game was racing out of Viejas to get to Qualcomm for a kickoff like 30 minutes later. Cannonball Run III.

while it happened at 26 seconds, the one that sticks against the Aztecs was when unlv's Curtis Terry hit that 3 in a 72-69 escape win at Viejas on jan. 26, 2008. unlv went on to win the MWC tournament title in 2007 and 2008. one of three Aztecs home losses that year.

Can't forget the buzzer beater by a young Malik Pope Feb 2016 vs the lobos. Hits the 3 to send it to OT, where the Aztecs went on to win

Tony Bland hit a shot to beat UCSB in the NIT
Malik hit the three to send the NM game to OT.
Chase Tapleys shot against Boise after Jamaals airball.
Jamaals shot against UNLV.
These are the buzzer beaters I remember at home. On the road DJ beat CSU and UNLV in the tourney. And Polees shot against Boise.

Sorry for being the old man yelling at a tree, but that wasn't a buzzer beater yesterday. A true buzzer beater is when basket goes in with time expired.

And, obtw, that last SJSU effort was WAY too close for comfort to being the textbook definition of a buzzer-beater. Got a wide-open look. Gotta work on that in practice, I would think.

The thing I remember most about Pope's shot was the split-second look of amazement on Pope's face after the shot went in. It was almost like he couldn't believe he made it. I believe the inbounds turnover was later ruled by the MWC to be an incorrect call. That may be the reason it was not shown in the highlight package.

Chase Tapley, Feb 2013 at home v Boise State. Last second 3 pointer. Oh yes. I was there for that one! And, also how about the really great full court dribble drive by Xavier against the Trojans with just seconds left to beat them 56-54 in 2011 at Viejas!
