Do you even go to the basketball tournament? new mexico fans are the absolute GARBAGE of them all. I've been to professional and collegiate games all over the country, in some really heated rivals (Cowboys v. eagles for example) and never once was close to throwing blows...EXCEPT at the MW tournament just about every year because the meth heads take it as their mission to literally get in peoples faces. They are pathetic. No, I've never gone to the Basketball tournament, but at the football and basketball games I've attended the BYU and ASU fans have been the worst. I don't recall ever interacting with New Mexico fans, so I have nothing to reference there. I can emphatically support the UNM claims

I have traveled to Albuquerque to watch Aztec basketball only to almost feel unsafe. My son was too small to understand how uncomfortable the game was. He just remembers losing but he got to travel for the game. Fans were horrible and pathetic but then had same experience with Lobo fans at MWC tournament. But then had a great experience with Lobo fans another time. Really left me confused! 😂 ASU fans are the worst I have ever experienced in my life. They are just horrible and there is no close second. At a football game, I saw two young ASU dudes yelling at a mom and her kids. My buddies and I had to get in their asses and save the mom/kids from a terrible experience. Just pathetic. Now, I haven’t had the horrible yBU experience like some of you but I am ready for it just In case.

Yeah, you can check with Chase Tapley's dad about New Mexico fans. I didn't find them much more gracious than he did, and I'm your average white guy.
They're not... hospitable, to put it generously. The exception to that rule, believe it or not, is Snake. He's a nice guy when the game is done, and goes out of his way to thank the visiting players as they board the bus back home. He's got other issues off-court, but how many people would go to the length of thanking the visiting team?
BYU, on the other hand... Never had an issue, home or in Provo.

One yBU fan down and many more to go. Been trying to get them to stop coming to games for years. They seem to travel well and now maybe they will start staying home. The Aztec fans are big meanies! In all seriousness, visiting fans should never feel like that. Not a good look and very disappointing for our image. Also, not really any students at the game so who was responsible for this. 🤔 I think there are two things going on. One, a lot of BYU fans are hypersensitive. Bad language offends them more than it does the average person. Two, many BYU fans are arrogant and condescending and look down on fans of other schools, which creates this resentment of BYU fans in the first place. Sounds like fans from typical P5 schools with religious affiliations. Or fans of private schools, college or high schools that are favorites of the affluent. Oldie Out
