Hundreds of F you’s directed at fans, multiple people getting in fans’ faces, etc. I’ll never go back

They seem to travel well and now maybe they will start staying home. The Aztec fans are big meanies! In all seriousness, visiting fans should never feel like that. Not a good look and very disappointing for our image. Also, not really any students at the game so who was responsible for this. 🤔

Not a good look and very disappointing for our image. Also, not really any students at the game so who was responsible for this. 🤔 I think there are two things going on. One, a lot of BYU fans are hypersensitive. Bad language offends them more than it does the average person. Two, many BYU fans are arrogant and condescending and look down on fans of other schools, which creates this resentment of BYU fans in the first place. Now, NO ONE should ever be shouting, "EFF you, EFF BYU," to the BYU fans. That's not cool, and people like that should be thrown out of the games. But the worst fans I've ever dealt with are Arizona State fans and BYU fans. It's not even close, everyone else is a distant third. The ONLY time I've ever had a fan of another school threaten me with physical violence was a BYU fan, and all I did was point out that he was in my seat and I asked him to move. He took offense and told me to sit somewhere else since there were open seats. I told him we were season ticket holders and that was my seat and he became livid and wanted to fight. Aztec William got security before the guy could go any farther, and he was kicked out of the game before it started. But his friends were all on his side, encouraging him to fight over a seat that wasn't his. I'll never forget that. It was childish and pathetic. And many other BYU fans I've run across have been arrogant and condescending (more than any other fanbase other than ASU, which is just as bad as BYU's), so my view of BYU fans is not positive (even though I've met some very nice BYU fans over the decades).

Two reasons I don’t want to play BYU and would prefer they never come back to our conference.
1 It’s not fair to play against guys that have two more years of maturity on them. A 24 year old lineman is different than a 22 year old.
2 Outside of attending a Fresno State football game they have the worst fans I’ve been around.
So happy we are beating them now and they are complaining about our fans and getting what they dished out for years. I hope all MW schools stop scheduling little princess and let her struggle finding games. Bye bye.

But the worst fans I've ever dealt with are Arizona State fans and BYU fans. Do you even go to the basketball tournament? new mexico fans are the absolute GARBAGE of them all. I've been to professional and collegiate games all over the country, in some really heated rivals (Cowboys v. eagles for example) and never once was close to throwing blows...EXCEPT at the MW tournament just about every year because the meth heads take it as their mission to literally get in peoples faces. They are pathetic.

I don't recall ever interacting with New Mexico fans, so I have nothing to reference there.

They are pathetic. I’ve never missed a MW tournament at the T&M, I would agree NM fans rank near the top of the “worst list” but not the top. My exposure to BYU fans in all three sports, from Provo, to Vegas, to here has been much more than NM, the only time I felt threaten, physically threaten at game was in Provo. BYU fans top my list as the worst.

Just getting in my face having said nothing! I had a different experience with New Mexico fans at the MWC tournament. I've found them to just be plain stupid. About 5 years ago I went to the tournament and didn't have tickets so I was purchasing them game by game typically from the teams fans who just lost. I didn't get in their face just asked if they were interested in selling. After Thursday's game I had no problem buying tickets from a Wyoming fan for $20 per ticket. Then on Friday night after New Mexico lost we asked a New Mexico fan if he'd like to sell and he said $80 a piece. I told him we paid $20 for this game and that the arena was likely to half full so there would be plenty of tickets available. So he got pissed off and ripped his tickets up in my face and threw them on the ground. We stood there smiling as he walked away with no words spoken. We calmly picked up the tickets and used them for free the next day! The gate attendants had no problem scanning the tickets for entry. Sweet memory of a dumb aXX New Mexico fan!

here are my three incidents with lobo fans: 1) sitting at the front bar of Excalibur having post game drinks when a group of lobo fans screaming "everyone's a lobo woof woof woof". my response was yelling AZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTECS. The hotel said I couldn't scream from the bar. no fighting or violence. 2) at the 2013 or 2014 after they beat us, I was standing in my seat and a female lobo fan smacked her purse into my back. my response was "excuse you" and she responded she wanted to fight me. I wouldn't bite. 3) in march of this year at the women's tournament between SDSU and new mexico, i started yelling loudly supporting the AZTECS and this female lobo fans said I was sitting in her section, she was on the Aztecs bench side of the t@m center (open seating). but the top incident was in 2017 involved a racial slur made by a colorado state men's player who said "Look at the moves by that n word". I believe it was during the nevada-fresno state game. I could have turned around to knock off the racial slur but I told arena security after it happened instead.
