I recall the '86 game vs BYU, 10 - 3. A similarly great defensive effort! That was a great game. It got us to the Holiday Bowl. Ah, the memories.

Not me.....I like Ryan, but Carson made quick, committed decisions.....and he has a gun for an arm......Ryan is slow with his reads and holds the ball too long....Agnew is a play maker with his legs, but I'll take Baker right now.......time to move on.... Not disagreeing with your assessment of Baker, but right now you're handing the keys to a guy with one start against a mediocre team? And if you could get a top-notch senior transfer you're just going to ignore him? I don't think so. Sears is a junior

For the bowl game, I split the PT 50/50, starting Agnew if 100%, with Baker....Starting job up for grabs giving Baker slight edge come spring....

I decided that to give us a chance at victory I shouldn't listen to the game. I should just ignore it and go about my business. So, I must take partial credit for the victory. We beat UCLA for the first time ever, we beat Fresno State and BYU and have a shot at 10 wins? Please don't tell me that there are people out there who see this as a disappointing season. We have had so many that were so much worse. All true. Everyone here remembers the era when 70-7 happened. A season that featured decisive wins over UCLA, Fresno and BYU has to be called an excellent year. But that said, you have to look back on the three needless losses and wonder...what if? Hawaii is better than mediocre, but USU and Reno barely rise to that level. If we had merely brought our A game at home against either USU or Reno, we’d have 10 wins already, a ranking, a chance to beat Boise next week, and a guaranteed upcoming bowl against a P5. We would have truly elevated the program. When the Aztecs are good enough to do all the positive things they did this season, why must they continue to have the costly banana-peel games? I’ve always hoped I would see them outgrow that habit, but I’m running out of time.

We BARELY beat some really bad teams, too. That's what's disappointing. Beating UCLA and BYU in the same year is great, which makes this season a success no matter what, but it's also disappointing because it could have, and should have, been even better.
