The tide turned on the Dutcher timeout at the 2:14 mark. The intensity the rest of the way was off the charts. Malachi would not let Haws take a breath, just great defensive intensity! I said last week that they just need to get Jordan in space and good things will happen. That guy has worked his ass off this summer refining that quick and deadly release. And those 4 FT's by Matt right into the student section down the stretch were absolutely calm, cool, and clutch!

Where the hell was the timeout during the 21 to 3run?

Where the hell was the timeout during the 21 to 3run? We missed quite a few easy layups during that time. It wasn't like we were just turning the ball over due to their pressure or anything. In reality had we made even just a few of those layup we would've won easily.

Where the hell was the timeout during the 21 to 3run? About halfway through it and it didn't help at the time.

Not sure why BYU did not play their large forward /center Lee more in the game. Good example was the three point play in the 2nd half. They sub him out almost immediately after that play which probably means they wanted quicker on D. When he was in I felt like he was a handful.

All I know is we won a big game on the road. And this team looks way better than I hoped for before season began. I think Wetzell, Schakle and injuries will be the most important factors between a good or great season. If Wetzell can average 5-7 pts, 4-6 rb and give us some quality minutes at the 5 as backup we r way better than last year. If Schakle can play like he has so far(as we all suspected) at the 2 and 3 we are also better than last year. Injuries? Well speaks for it self. Hopefully minimal? As for the rest, young but athletic, multiple players interchangeable at 1-3 and 3-4. If we can play aggressive D and rebound 1-5 we could be pretty damn good.

And those 4 FT's by Matt right into the student section down the stretch were absolutely calm, cool, and clutch! I don't know how/if it came through on the broadcast, but the intensity from the players after the BYU run was insane for such an early season game. This game meant A LOT to the guys, and when we went down 9 it looked like shades of the previous two seasons. I think it was the under-8 media TO - KJ (Feagin, not Keshad) was grabbing each guy in the huddle by the jersey collar and shaking/yelling at them to get sht together. After about the under-8 media TO - Malachi flipped a switch on the D end and even though he picked up like 4 fouls, only one was an actual legit call and he was just absolutely punking Haws. Jordan has ice water flowing and looks like he's done with the BS. When the game was done, you could tell from the celebration that we NEEDED this win, especially after outclassing BYU for almost the entirety of the game. Winning this game helped SO much for the locker room. I wouldn't quite say a loss would have derailed the season, but coming back from that hole where recent SDSU teams would have folded means a lot.

Just a thought for Mitchell. Dude the fade away 11 footer is lethal. Keep doing it until they make an adjustment and stop it which BYU had no answer. Reminds me of Winston Sheppard when he use his inside jump shot that no one could block. This! It was the one mistake that I thought the announcing team made, they talked about it as a tough shot, when in reality, it is not... When he has a same height or smaller guard on him it should be a go to move and one that can help stretch the floor as folks come at him to double team he can hit Arop like he did on the cut or kick out same side for a stand still three... Love it

It pains me to say this (in a good way though) but we'll need to root (gag) for YBU to win some big games from here on out for this game to mean more. Now excuse me while I go and wash my mouth out for having to say that. Understand the logic in your reasoning but just not any possible way I could even think about doing that..... We need the zoobs to survive a Childless OOC and split their series against the Gaels and Zags for this to remain a solid Q1 win. And given the sh*t sandwich that is a lion's share of our OOC, we need the mothership to stay afloat this year for this to remain a Q1 W. Trust me - just go buy some mouthwash and plan on zoob-rooting - its the best worst solution there is...
