I think fan fest should be moved to back to campus and scrimmage on the football practice field, like the Spring game. Plenty of room for the gear sale on the turf field next to Tony Gwynn Stadium. The current Aztec Warrior Stadium is a safety hazard and really depressing. Looks like a dilapidated soccer stadium in Kazakhstan. The blue seats are a joke. Why can't we paint the seats scarlet and black? Stop complaining about passing the ball and lets get those seats painted! I would volunteer to paint.
This team looks undersized, except for the Offensive Line. Linebackers and D Lineman are small and the skill position players look like Pop Warner players. Hope they are fast.

I agree that it should be played on campus. I hope we are not paying rent for the scrimmage. Waste of money to paint the seats. We just need the stadium to hold up for three more years.

Predictably Rocky Long was not happy or impressed.

He loves doing this tease to get attention. More often than not, nothing comes of it. Move on...

coach did say playing there was a good change of pace from the normal practices and closer to game like situations
would be interesting to know how much we pay to use the facility

Back to campus where there's no room for fans? Did you see the spring game? It sucked. Players obviously need to play in the stadium they'll play in. Paint the seats? Sdsu can't paint seats they don't own. The seats are plastic. Not paintable anyway. The stadium is still in good shape given its age. Real seats and excellent lights. As to size, we have good size top to bottom. LBs avg. about 230. OL avg. about 320. Back 5 are 6 ft to 6-2 and 190 to 205. Not small at all. DL is smaller than some but that's not what CFB is all about. It's SPEED. This appears to be the fastest defense we've ever had. Look again .

per Rocky in Tuesday UT
QB Salazar was injured in scrimmage - knee injury - so should be out about a week . So the battle for back up QB for Home Opener - is between Brookshire and Carson Baker .( Salazar had slipped to fourth on depth chart before the scrimmage ) Rocky said both are about average in performance hit about 50 % of their throws . He feels in the Spread offense Qb's should be at about 60-65% as they face man coverage . In the scrimmage Brookshire had a 25 yard pass for a TD and a run for 28 yards . Brookshire said he needs to work on his footwork , accuracy and being able to read defenses. He also noted that the speed of the game and athleticism is much better at the D1 level compared to his days at JC .
Other thoughts from Rocky : First team Defense played ok - but second team DL was Horrible. Currently does not feel the second team DL guys do Not know how/where to line up correctly on the defensive play schemes that are being called , so they get pushed around. Schemes change every play . He does feel there is talent there but they need to learn the assignments to be able to improve as they move forward . once they do that they could be able make plays - will see .
OL starters was pretty good . Second team was able as noted able to dominate the second team DL - were they good or DL that bad ?
He liked WR's Mathews , Kothe, and Richardson had the TD pass . D. Benson is a pleasant surprise and fastest of the WR's
Injuries : Justice WR , Aleki LB, DL Okpoko and Safety Hawkins
Additions - Monday Jalen Booth JC transfer OL 6'4" 335 lbs. JC transfer , Sefo Mailangi Lb/DE JC transfer 6'2" 225 lbs.

Apparently a few here haven't been to U of Mich, Ohio St., ND and U$C for games? They r only slightly better stadiums than the Q, structurally and in amenities some better some worse and they seem to b working for schools that have ton more money than we have. Some seem to think we can afford a Maserati when we need a Ford or Chevy especially since we barely can afford them.

have not seen depth chart at Go Aztecs
Article today in UT about TE P.Houston - He is hoping to lead by example be more of a catching more at TE this year . But knows the team is still a run first style that uses his blocking . TE's are learning the newer formation . Also has an interesting article about his longer hair - remembrance of family member bout with cancer .

Frosh McTear is a huge physical presence. He could turn ino a good TE.

Agree think McTear could be a high quality player but think he is rated 3 rd string behind Belinger and Houston . In our new formation does the TE usually line up in the backfield . So not sure what is more important blocking or catching the ball . Could depend on how well the OL is playing . Do we go with 1 TE or possibly 2 if we need the blocking .

I've watched the TEs and Bellinger is clearly well ahead of McTear. Some guys take longer to mature and McTear is hopefully going to but he hasn't yet. TE is critical in this new scheme as they line up in different spots. Houston should be a go to receiver as well.

Move playing field all the way to south keeping sight line integrity. Demolish west & east upper level and all levels on north from video board to video board. Build north sideline stands of 20 to 30 rows which would end up 30 to 50 yards closer to that sideline than current configuration. Insert eyecandy features as desired and Save about $200 million.

maybe talk about stadium in the rendering posts.
UT Thursday - Punt Returners - 2018 was a trouble spot .
last year Dedeaux , Kobe Smith , Jordan Byrd , all fumbled punts . All will try again this year plus I.Richardson , transfer D. Benson , new freshman B. Penny and starting RB J. Washington if really needed ( but coach does not want to risk possible injury to J.W )
P R can be a terrifying job as the whole stadium and fans on TV are watching one guy as he waits for the ball to come down .
Aztecs P R's are getting a lot of reps this year in practice - plus stats are being counted , catches , drops, how many they let drop that should have been caught , even those catches that were struggled with yet caught . Final decision may not happen until game day . Most important being able to hang onto the ball - who coaches have most confidence in . Last year coaches felt troubles there could have possibly led to team losses or game being closer then it should have .
RRR - Rocky Return Rules
1 DO Not catch if inside the 5 yard line ( use to be the 10 yard line but punters have now improved their spin on the ball so if it hits on the 10 bounces to the 2 yard line - Aztec Punter can do that now also- hard to get something going from your own to 2 or 1 yard line)
2 Fair Catch if defenders are close
3 . CATCH the ball and run If there's room to run - hang onto the ball when hit
