I could sure make a case for Machado, Tatis, Jr., Reyes and Renfro who don't benefit from playing at Coors Field for half their games.

This city is invisible to the rest of the league. Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Mets, Braves, Cubs. The media fixates on these six teams, everyone else is an afterthought.

Not really a surprise.

Not in the slightest, really. Which is fine. I don't need a ceremonial game to tell me how good Machado and Tatis are.

Right now he looks to be the complete package, hits, hits for power, runs and runs aggressively, fields. And he is only 20. Machado started slow offensively but just having him in the lineup has helped other hitters get good pitches (especially Hosmer). Now he appears to be catching fire and his defense combimed with Tatis Jr gives us the best left side of the field in baseball. Reyes is just 23. Renfroe turns on a pitch as quick as anyone I've seen. The team is fun to watch, especially when Paddock is starting.

Tatis is in the HR derby, which alot of fans watch more than the actual game itself.
I never miss the MLB HR derby nor the NBA slam dunk and 3 point contest.
I rarely watch the actual game in either sport, and I think I am not alone here.

Fans are going to vote for who they get a chance to see, which means lots of Red Sox and Yankees, not so many Mariners or Padres. It also doesn’t help that the Pads have been perennial doormats the past 8 seasons.

Pardon me, I spent too much time in the hot sun over the weekend. I mis-read it when I saw "youngest participant", its actually Guerrero. Not Tatis.
My bad!
Carry on

It also doesn’t help that the Pads have been perennial doormats the past 8 seasons. I dunno man, the Astros have the most selections dont they? Indians have three in Hand, Lindor, Santana. Santana is starting (which is awesome), although Cleveland is hosting which likely got their fans fired up. Is Machado having a better season than starter Kris Bryant? I mean, it's close. Same WAR, Bryant has a higher OPS, Machado has more jacks and RBI. Either is deserving.

You make some good points, however Houston and Cleveland have been fixtures in recent playoffs, hence eyeballs on their players. No way does Paul DeJong deserve a spot over Tatis.

I agree w/ you, though I think that the amount of games missed is what ended up costing Tatis a spot.
I think he will be a fixture for years to come.
