I’ve always been a huge fan of how the Boise basketball program has been run. I see this as a positive and an improvement over last year.

Safe choice, looks to be an "up and coming coach" who has some positive qualities. Grab a suitcase, a cell phone, and a notebook now and get on the road. 2020 & 2021 offers are out, visits are being scheduled. **Defensive minded**. Boise state big's play " DET Pistons Bay Boy" basketball. Hope we can get that same attitude in the paint. Bronco Profile: broncosports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=326&path=mbball

I miss Coach Hutson, hopefully this hire can soften the sting on the defensive end.

This is a very pleasant surprise; accent on defense, some HC experience and knows the MWC. I would love to see some "Pistons Bad Boy Basketball" transfer to the Mensahs and Arop. With their athleticism, that could be a nice combo, especially on the boards.

I wonder if he was part of Boise's pipeline to Aussie players.

This time around, it appears Dutcher took a deeper dive into his massive stack of resumes. Chris Acker checks a lot of boxes as the right type of assistant coach Dutcher needs. The biggest box is Acker's defensive DNA matches the Aztecs legendary defensive DNA. Something that was sorely missing last season.
Welcome to the team, Chris Acker!

This seems like a good hire. He appears to be more of an up-and-comer with HC potential in the Hutson mold.

I’ve always been a huge fan of how the Boise basketball program has been run. I see this as a positive and an improvement over last year. Just curious as to why you are a fan. Since joining the MWC, they are slightly above .500 in league play, performed poorly in conference tourney and 0-2 in the big dance.

would be interesting to know if Acker also applied at UCLA and who applied from SEC school for SDSU job
wonder if he could have helped with some of the recruits we lost this year - when Dutcher heard that Palmer was looking for HC job or got hired by UCLA ,
Will see if he can help with recruiting now and going forward - plus doing some coaching during SS sessions heading into fall practice Should be a busy Summer
Any thoughts on recruiting if we are going to do more of the transfer routes or HS guys

I certainly don’t have any insight on this, or any other, coach. But I really like this hire. He’s seems to be the perfect fit. His background as a player and coach seems to indicate that he possesses a high b-ball IQ and a strong work ethic. I hope that he can use his talents to help establish a defensive identity and to recruit and develop players. If he can check those boxes, this really could be a game changer. This program has huge need in all three areas. I thought it very unlikely that the Aztecs would be able to address each of these issues with a single hire. I’m optimistic that Dutch may have just pulled it off.

Development starts with the training during the SS programs . Who will be there . Is there a concentration on Conditioning , Mental toughness, Defense and Rebounding .
Then the summer time recruiting during AAU events

I like his hire also, and with his emphasis on "D" that should help us considerably. Look forward to a great season coming up!

Believe Che Evans is coming in for a visit but will also visit the other schools on his list including BSU and some other P5 schools
