Is it not clear that the financial problems of the U.S. go far beyond the misdeads or stupidity of any one sector of the economy or any one political party? We're all in this together. The Greeks are all in their situation together as well, and look where they're headed! online.barrons.com/article/SB127199393045181219.html?mod=BOL_hpp_dcAzWm

Pretty sad for Greese, but it is just as scary for us. It would seem that due to our size and relative position in the world, that inflation is what will happen to us. We will inflate our way out of the problem at the expense of all of our citizens and indirectly the rest of the world. when will Washington get some guts to face the problem? My guess is never. The reason is the Republicans are not strong enough to envoke the Conservative actions needed to rope in spending and get things going in the proper direction. I hope that I am wrong and an early indication woould be a huge change in Congress in Novemember. Throw both parties out and elect Conservatives!

Yea.... maybe we can elect Sarah Palin or similar....then change all the text books like Texas and o.k. conceal and carry for everybody over 21 (no questions asked) in the US... that would be a cool place!

Don't be silly! You distract from and diminish any argument that you might be able to make by such foolishness. Comment on how to get debt under control or the like and you won't be taken so lightly.

Legitimate point Win. Are you trying to tell me that the far Right arm of the "tea Party" and other Government haters are not all about that?? The Tea party and Republicabns will be split in half over this stuff...you watch. Moderates will once again be left to decide between one extreme and the other...

It appears to me that you have bought into the portrayal of the "Tea Party" by the extreme left. By and large the Tea Party folks are much more centrist than you have been led to believe. They are part of what I would call a common sense middle of the road approach and have the potential to be much bigger this fall than anyone thinks.

Well...we'll see where the Tea Party goes from here. It is not a portrayal by the Left to see what basically looks like 90% pissed off white people. You and I both know they will have to expand their base to be successful in this Country.....and when you bring in Sarah Palin and the like, you automatically turn off 65% of Americans. Some in the Tea Party seem pretty smart in rejecting any ideology position other than economic issues.... but you and I know that won't be the case. The Tea party seems smart in another area in that they are really making an effort to reject racists and radicals... this is smart.

The reports I am aware of indicate that quite a majority of the tea partiers are first time activists. They would not be out there marching and carrying signs if the federal government, Dems and GOP alike, had not screwed the pooch royally as regards the national debt.
The Left will not even think of taking serious action to reduce the debt sensibly (meaning that we can't just tax our way out of this mess if the Congress is going to increase spending continually). And the Right (i.e., the GOP), even if it gets the guts to do something, will be shot down by the media. Remember when one NYC newspaper ran the headline, "Ford to New York. . . Drop dead!" when President Ford refused a bailout for that city? Imagine what the mainstream media would say if the Republicans tried to cut back entitlements, even a little, as a way to reduce the deficit! ! !
I believe that plenty of people on the Left, at least the center Left, realize that this handbasket (aka the U.S.A.) is on its way to hell, financially speaking. Unfortunately, they are incapable to questioning their basic philosophy, which holds that the government should get bigger and bigger to "solve" more and more problems and "right" more and more wrongs.

I don't think that I ever look at a crowd and notice who or how many Whites or Blacks are there. These are mainly folks concerned about the direction of the country. Make no mistake about there being a whole lot of irresponsible Republicans. I want both parties to wake up and see that Conservative policy as far as spending and taxes can get us turned around. It is just that there are so many more liberals who call themselves Democrats that we line up along those lines. I am also a social Conservative, but that does not make me a one issue or a blind citizen. Liberalism is going to sink us unless we can right the ship pretty soon.

AzWm Lets not forget that we have some Republicans who should take some of your criticism as well as the liberals.

That is not what Newt said. He said it could evolve into that. He is welcome and entitled to his opinion just as you and I are. What I see are concerned or even mad citizens expressing their frustration with spending in general and mostly Democrats.
