“Now” Spanos said, “We just need someone to pay for it and build it for us”…
I wonder if at the owner meeting the others say ‘Oh, boy, here comes Dean. Hide your wallets’
For Godsakes will someone step in and move them back to San Diego and send Spanos to Alcatraz?

He can't go to Alcatraz. It's been closed & crumbling for decades. I think most people in San Diego know who he is, and those in LA are learning fast.
It may not be too far down the line that a new owner to finally buy the team, and use his/her money to save and take it in a positive direction.

Alcatraz? Well, he could always develop it into and another apartment complex "in the bay."

The Chargers are not coming back. Maybe in 20 years but I don't see San Diego spending a bunch of money to build a stadium for them and I think NFL has peaked when it comes to revenue. San Diego offered them a good deal in MV and they would have been much better off financially had they stayed here. They have had to discount their PSLs and well below what the Rams are getting and their TV ratings are higher in SD than LA. They still have to pay some $600M to the NFL for their right to move to LA. If the Rams win a SB they are pretty much dead in the water in LA as far as attracting fans. They went 12-4 last year and still didn't generate much of a buzz. Had they done that in San Diego, they would have been able to fill the stadium, and SDCC ain't some 27K stadium (that they even tarp seats in the endzone that are not obstructed view).

I think this will end with the other owners "forcing" the sale of the team to a truly wealthy owner who has the cash to build his own stadium in SD to bring the team back here. This LA move is a complete embarrassment to the league and it won't let it continue as is.

This LA move is a complete embarrassment to the league and it won't let it continue as is. I have been wondering about this. I read an article stating that, since the Chargers signed a 20-year lease with the Rams for the stadium, they will be there a long time. But look, if a football team HAS NO FANS, what is the point? They can't even sell more than 10,000 tickets to their soccer field. That's following last year's 12-4 and one win in the playoffs record. What about this year? They're 2-4 and I looked at the schedule and they can definitely lose the next 5 in a row. What if they finish 3-13? They already HAVE NO FANS. What will happen next year? Also, I saw the Chargers were valued at 2.5 billion, after ticking up another .3, with the anticipation they'll rise even more when they move into the stadium next year. But THE CHARGERS HAVE NO FANS! What is a sports franchise REALLY worth if it HAS NO FANS? This is an absolute debacle and it's not getting any better. Fredo must go.

Unless the NFL owners decide to build the SDSU stadium at 55,000 with no money from the Spanos family there’s no chance they are coming back to San Diego.

Spanos is getting exactly what he deserves. Everyone knew his team had few fans in LA, even if they were competitive. Now, he puts garbage on the field and can't draw flies. The league will have to step in somewhere along the line with some kind of fix. I don't know what, but the current situation can't last.

He will be forced to sell because the franchise cannot sustain themselves financially with such horrific ownership. He's a failure and completely incompetent. He will be forced out. After that, who knows what will happen to the team? San Antonio? St. Louis? San Diego again? Los Angeles isn't getting behind either team (Rams OR Chargers) in huge numbers, so the NFL can't afford to split the market long term. I'm actually enjoying watching the whole debacle unfold. This is fun!
