Yuck!
No premier non-conference games at Viejas. Biggest non-conference home game being GCU, no bueno!

WTF - 28 game season, no top tier teams at Viejas, few Saturday games, 2 games fewer than previous years. Scheduling grade this year D-. You can email Matt Soria msoria@sdsu.edu and ask him about this years plan?

Premier home non-conference opponents:
2019 - Grand Canyon??? 2018 - BYU 2017 - Gonzaga, Cal 2016 - Arizona St 2015 - Kansas 2014 - Utah 2013 - Arizona, Washington
BYU was fun as an old rival but even then that wasn’t that exciting. This trend sucks.

Someone should be hired, or possibly fired, for this. Insane incompetence.

The MWC is partially & somehwhat to blame. The conference pushed up the MW Tournament because there was a convention in Las Vegas which booked hotel rooms. Therefore, the MW Tourney was pushed up a week and conference games where forced to start in early Dec on 12/4 vs CSU and 12/8 vs SJSU. That kills a week of our OOC, finals week eliminates games the following week, add in the holidays and all of a sudden Decemeber ends, with only one OOC game Cal Poly. $#!+!
Overall that f****s the MW for the NCAA tournment, the MW will end a week before selection Sunday, outside of the excitment and lime light.

You can email Matt Soria msoria@sdsu.edu and ask him about this years plan? I think D- is too high a grade. I emailed Soria but I'm sure it won't do any good. Not only is the home schedule pathetic, it looks like it will be another year of trying to find creative ways to see a lot of the away games. Can't understand why it's so difficult to find a consistent viewing outlet for the Aztecs. It can't ALL be because of their lousy TV package. I don't mind watching on my computer if I'm around during game time but I hate not being able to record them for watching later. AT&T Sports Network has a lot of MWC team's games as part of their overall regional coverage. Does anyone know why the same local Fox sports station that does Padre games doesn't grab the SDSU football and basketball games? Are ratings that bad that no one wants them?

I feel bad for season ticket holders, with this poor slate of games. Yikes.

Dutcher is saving those marquee home game in his back pocket for next year.

Is Uc Irvine that busy?
They should start working on next year’s schedule today!
The fact that we have to pre-buy this soft schedule is embarrassing

FWIW...Dutcher was on the radio and said he called every Pac-12 team to try to get a home-and-home started this year at Viejas, but couldn't get any takers. I wonder if they waited too long (Wyoming has a home Pac-12 game), but who knows.

It has been stated on this board that Dutcher has been quoted in the past as saying he can schedule Pac12 opponents any time.
Who in the program is to fault here?

Shame I'm old enough to remember 31 games. 28, if I'm not mistaken, is the minimum allowed by the NCAA. I understand that moving the MWC tournament up a week played a role. However, there's been a pattern of scrambling to add games well after most have announced their schedule s. It no longer appears true that we are above our conference mates in terms of scheduling. We do need the MWC to negotiate deals with other conferences. We should accept home and home deals that start on the road. At 28 game, we should be willing to play quality one offs on the road.

I don't get all the angst and vitriol towards Dutch for the schedule...he can't make a top team come here...and the school does not have the money to pay for one to come...I mean it is what it is...now if you're a top ten team...you're taking a real chance coming to Viejas...the top team has to be really confident they would win...and running video of top teams who have come here vs. a full arena may give a top team pause...the top team has to measure if it will be a good loss or a bad one...because there is a high chance they would lose...then they will have an "L" by a SDSU team that might have an 100 RPI or lower/higher...it's a roll of the dice...so that's they don't want to play here...now we can go to any arena in the nation and play...but the program wants to be seen as a equal...so they want home and home with good teams...and good teams just aren't about that...so what's to do?...SDSU is a victim to it's own home success......
