The las vegas review journal published an article as to why overall attendance is dwindling at the yearly tournament. The loss of bywho fans is one factor. Timing with other events (hotel prices) is another. My top guess is the downfall of the Vegas team and drop in their yearly attendance.

That may be true, but UNLV did have a much better year than the past two, and they should be moving up more next season under Menzies. He is doing a pretty good job, and if he can continue they should grow.

Because only SDSU and UNM fans show up in any significant numbers. If those teams are down who's gonna pick up the slack? Nevada fans? Boise fans?

There were a lot of Wyoming fans a few years ago when they beat us in the final. Basically, fans show up when their team is good and don't when they're in the crapper.

Even though we won this year and have won in the past, I'm a fan of rotation for the tournament. Play them on the homecourts of the teams. I know most will be opposed but JMHO!

Obviously, tournament should be moved to San Diego.

Obviously, tournament should be moved to San Diego. If they want to have sell it out they should. Upper deck at the Tomas and Mack has been completely empty for years now.

I know what you mean, but if you could guarantee a MWC tourney game sellout for the big SJSU/AF matchup in Viejas, then you've REALLY got something.

This is a horrible idea however the fans would love it. Consider that the first two rounds are play in rounds. Number 8 seat travels to number 1 seat and plays first round game. 7 to 2, 6 to 3 and 5 to 4. Then travel day and the last four teams left standing go to LV and play Friday Night, day off and then Sunday. First round is sold out and more people then travel to LV to see the weekend games.

Not enough lead time for travel plans and hotel reservations... nobody would be certain who's actually playing in the "onsite" tournament until just days before it starts. The way it currently is, you can book and make travel plans well in advance. I think the proposed idea would actually reduce attendance. Especially if any of the "travel well" teams (Us, NM, Wyoming) got upset in the "at home" games.
